| might as well merge with Widnes !!
Get huge following in the rugby hotbed that is Wrexham - NOT
Another failed development - lose another million next season, still finish plum bottom, flit between towns building NO fan base, no community links etc. then sadly disappear in the same wasy others before.
For goodness sake even Sheffield couldn't make a go of it despite winning a challenge cup.
Any of you remember Nottingham, Mansfield etc.
Disgrace they got the franchise in the first place.

All in all you couldn't make this stuff up!
I hope it works out for them and that as rumoured Wrexham not just using them to bring in some much needed money to football side!
New NL1 side in Neath? So sacking Bridgend off completely then? That errr... makes loads of sense!

| I am bitterly disapointed by this.
Given time South Wales would have been massive for Rugby League, why people expect it to happen overnight is beyond me.
Why was there the need to move away from Brewery Field?
Which game was it too small for?
I blame SL for this cock up.
They are clue less and they are the biggest problem faced by RL in general.
As far as i am concerned if they are not to be in South Wales they are in SL under false pretences. Let them "reform" in Neath and work their way back up through the leagues.
We had a great time when we went to Bridgend, met some great people, and have already got over 80 people sorted to go to Newport for the weekend ~ Obviously that'll be cancelled now.
Yet another case of SL administrators making RL look like a joke sport.

| When crowds where low and problems occured the RFL & Cru message was 'it takes time' which in a sense yes is fair enough!
But then they go and do this 'quick fix move' what if Wrexham don't take to the game... move again in 6 months?

| The only fault the RFL can be criticised for is giving into the "its now or never" language of Samuels. Crusaders have given the RFL another one: Wrexham or bust. The RFL are probably doing the right thing in agreeing to it, as they can hardly let another side in at such short notice, but I hope the Neath thing works and that they take the place of Crusaders in 2014.
There is, of course, the possibility that the Wrexham thing could work. All the other clubs that have failed have had dominant football teams in the locality. I know Wrexham FC is popular in that area, but it is dominant only because of the lack of an alternative.
What I can't understand is the desire to move back to South Wales in the long term. It doesn't sound like they are looking to grow a local fanbase. The Crusaders should accept they have lost South Wales, make a go of Wrexham, and leave Neath to it. If Wrexham doesn't work, let Neath take over.

I hope it is widnes in next.No offence to crusaders and i feel sorry for their fans now, who have supported them through a bad first season. We put 500,000 guarantee down and still not enough for the rfl.We have 8 home grown players in our squad already, and got a good fan base, stadium, business men and a good history. If widnes moved to gloucester, most widnes fans would not go to support their team .Another mistake by the rfl and they need sacking, especially lewis.

well done on your actions.
I dont think there are any winners IMMEDIATELY in this fiasco. The obvious losers have all been mentioned by various contributors.
WE MAY see that the winners become the 'new team' in wrexham but of course thats an imponderable as to achieve that it needs stable skilled, confident management to deliver business and sporting success. Also they have to unfortunately live under a microscope of a cynical RL public and every move will be second guessed.
On the bigger picture the RFL/SL management team who have been involved have a severely tarnished rep with another coating added.I hope for the sports sake they will do an objective/none sugar coated critique of themselves and learn some hard lessons.

| I just do not see how anyone can say you can't blame the RFL/SL
If you want to emigrate to Australia they make sure that you are not going to arrive and be a burden upon them and their state hand outs. They make sure you have either your own means or a sponsor.
Now if we took this kind of sensible aproach all would need to do is look at how much running a team costs then tell whoever it is wanting to join the club that they need 3 years worth of funds before we let them in.
Its not that hard really is it?
If they can't come up with it or proof that there backers can't simply walk away they can't join.

I agree it does depend on the speed at which the crash-dummy chaos bus this whole issue is smacks them in the face.

| I look at it like this...
an expansion club in South Wales... yeah, can support that it makes sense...
an expansion club in Wrexham... piontless, offers nothing new less than 30 miles to Widnes... smallish conurbation with no other catchment area! ... bordering stupid!
for me its Crusaders in South Wales or not at all!

| Quote: SaintsFan "Yes, they are, and I think that is just as bad because we are in the middle of a recession and the last thing struggling RL clubs can afford is bloody new stadiums. The RFL should have relieved the pressure until the financial situation is better and so the Crusaders would not have felt the need to move before they were really ready to. But that would be to grant the people at Red Hall with some nouse, which they just don't have.
You clearly didn't read my last post so your comment is worthless.'"
said by a saints fan, who's club have not spent a penny on their urine stained pit of a ground for decades, get a life, get a new ground!
