depends on your tastes. plenty of the usual fast foods outlets, pub grub. for some decent resturants go to cardiff a 15 minute train ride away. i recommend the funky buddha on charles street.

| No need to go to Cardiff for food. Plenty of places to eat.
Italian,
Vietnamese,
Indian,
Chinese,
Specialist fish restaurant, gastro-pubs all within a 5 minute stagger of the ground.
Similar down in Porthcawl and all of decent quality.
We aren't the food capital of the world by any means but you'll never go hungry.
And for those with lower standards we can do you burgers, kebabs, pizzas and all the usual 'mystery meat' concotions you'd expect from a takeaway.
Don't get me wrong, Cardiff's fine. It's just further and you pay more.

| Best chippy in the UK, Finnegans Station Hill, Porthcawl.
If you want a posh restaurant, try la Terraza on the old bridge about 150yds from the Brewery Field!
If you are hanging aroung until the Sunday, Bridgend Blue Bulls take on the Blackwood Bulldogs at 14:30 at Portcawl RFC £3 addmission. Should be the Welsh conference decider as it is the last regular season game and both are undefeated.
By the way, plan for traffic problems in Porthcawl lunchtime to mid afternoon (4ish) on Saturday. Its the town Carnival! Parade through town and travelling fair & stalls at the Rugby club (hence we playing Sunday)

| We're staying in Cardiff for the weekend as we have friends there (who we're bringing with us) and we were just wondering what time the ground opens, and are there any decent pubs to drink in around the ground or are we best staying in Cardiff and heading over nearer to kick off?

| The ground should be open around 2 hours before kick off . If you are in Cardiff I can recommend the PRINCE OF WALES pub ( Weatherspoons) on Wood St. around the corner from central station which has cheap booze and a friendly atmosphere and the VULCAN further down on Adamsdown Rd oposite the CIA, both my regular pubs on matchdays.
Also well recommended is the GOAT MAJOR PUB opposite the Castle, a Brains pub that has plenty of good restaurants and Caroline (Salmonella Circus) St. nearby.
Enjoy your stay, we always le[ a welcome in the hillsides for visiting fans, especially the ones we've already beat!

| Also lots of bars near the ground
"The New Angel"
"The Litten Tree"
"The Riverside Tavern"
"The Wyndham" (Wetherspoons)
"The Railway"
"The Prince of Wales" (Avoid it at all costs)
"The Three Horseshoes"
"O'Neill's"
"Welcome to Town"
"The Queen Victoria"
None of these are further than 5 minutes from the ground.
The Riverside is the historical fan's choice. The Litten Tree is quite popular. The bar in the clubhouse is also a decent pint.

Personally wouldn't bother with "Welcome", "The Queen Vic" or "The New Angel". The rest are all decent, "Wyndham" is cheap, normally quite a few fans there after the game, same with the clubhouse and the Riverside but they're both slightly more expensive.
If you're looking for a local with good ale, "The Oldcastle" and "Five Bells" are about 10 minutes from the ground on Nolton Street and Ewenny Road respectively.
"The Roof", "Barracuda", "Cody's" and "York Bar" are all bars/nightclubs. If I was going to recommend one it'd probably be Barracuda, but it's quite pricey on a Saturday.
In terms of restaurants, 'The Natraj' and 'Ashoka' are good Indians. Natraj is within spitting distance of the ground, and my favourite of the two. There's a 'China China' buffet restaurant even closer. There are two pricey but really well run Italians also about 2 minutes from the ground; 'La Terrazza' and 'Zia Nina', and I'd personally recommend 'Poco Poco' - Tapas and Grill, great stuff. 'Wyndham' serves food til 10 as well if you just want something with your pint. Loads of choice in Bridgend, don't really know Porthcawl well enough to recommend anywhere.

| Ignore my 'China China' recommendation.
It's been closed down by H & S, about a month after opening

Everyone wil be in the Litten Tree come Saturday evening before and after.
