Quote: BigRob "Wasnt going a whole season unbeaten, getting promoted, finishing tenth in first season back in SL and setting in place a good academy system not good enough for you?
Sharp's successes were on the back of Smith's work at the club. You conveniently missed out what happened last season, oh yes you finished tenth. Whats happened now you've got a decent head coach who players actually want to play for? Oh look you finished 3rd.
Sharp is a great assistant coach, but pathetic as a head coach. Same goes for Agar at Hull.'"
You are clueless. Smith finished bottom and was relegated. then had a team funded by Davy with the likes of steve Mac/ Thorman/ Gene/ Turner/ St Hilaire/ Reilly. In their first season back they lost to Hunslet in the C Cup probably the worst defeat of a SL club in the tournament. The Giants finished 10th mariginally ahead of Wakey - the year Fax went into meltdown and lost all but one game.
Smith did a decent job. Attributing sharp's successes to Smith is laughable.
The suggestion that Smith created a good academy system at the giants is the most laughable comment of the lot. You are kidding. he had no interest in the scholarship / 18s etc. None.
You obviously know FA about the Giants so stop making an ar5e of yourself.
I do not have to re write history to highlight Sharp's weaknesses. You seem capable of little else.
Sharp was good at taking avaerage players, getting them reasonably fit and devising a game plan that got the most out of them. A very structured approach. he struggles with more talented and spontaneous players, ones with minds of their own (thus Drew leaving the club early). To be a top coach you need to be able to manage these players.
So at Celtics / Salford / Quins etc Sharp would do a decent job.
