Dissappointing effort that
Obviously not, but maybe you were able to see them breaking from the scrum or had you taken up a Kev Walters style position?

| Will they not play in the European Cup?
[url=http://www.rlef.eu.com/news.php?id=1489Chairman of the Rugby League European Federation, Richard Lewis has hailed the success of the Alitalia European Cup which was won by Wales on Saturday following a dramatic 12-11 triumph in Albi.[/url

| Well, despite the result there is plenty to talk about from the Aus vs Eng match this morning.
Firstly the fact I was up an hour early for it because I didnt change the clocks back (doh!) but secondly the performance of the match officials.
I think the knock on for the first controversial try could have been construed as going backwards (if a better camera angle existed), but for me the benefit of the doubt in that instance should have gone to the defending side as it was an attacker who commited the alleged offence.
The bounce up one could have gone either way I suppose but optimistic attacking was rewarded more than aggressive defending. I am English and biased though of course.
For me the one that showed the most naive officiating was the forward pass just after we had scored in the second half. It was a shocker and whilst not excusable in the case of professional players, I could understand the English players heads going down.
As a Catalans fan it would be remiss not to point out that some supporters of our club think that the British officials make some 'interesting' decisions based on our being a French club.
A couple of disallowed tries later and then the match was over. Gutting.

no,didn't see too much either - we were at the top of the East Stand surrounded by screaming kids with those f*****g plastic tubes - all I know is we were outplayed & outcoached by a proud bunch of Taffies led by a RL legend who, with his coaching team is streets ahead of the french - as I say ad nauseum Catalancs,'jobs for the boys' - get in real french patriots to assist, not Stu or Warren for example who are imported mercenries who don't give a monkeys about La France..
btw I DID actually spend about five minutes behind the welsh goal line before being asked to move on by the security forces - apparently I was too close to the french sports minister (about 60 metres away) ! I did a KW and couldn't see a b******g thing ! Fortunately TR was seated in the main stand so that's an improvement already !

| As I said on another thread, Bobbie sadly has been consistent right through his career. When does his contract end? It's up to the FFR XIII to sit down and think if he deserves to be national coach and if indeed he is the right man for the job. I'd like to see more French in the backroom staff at least, with maybe Bobbie having a good French coach as his assistant/translator (that's how Jose Mourinho started ). Does Bobbie speak French yet?

well,at Albi after the welsh debarcle I heard him order 'deux bieres ' for him & Jowitt so he has clearly learned the essentials - No,he understands almost no french and doesn't seem to have made any progress since I first chatted with him following last years Four Nations games in Toulouse & Paris.Any non french speaker has to have french backroom staff at least. If he doesn't stay on (and I hope he does) I would like to see someone like Julien Rinaldi given the chance

| Would Rinaldi want the gig though? Hasn't he just signed for Wakefield? Goulding needs someone who can watch the French players week in, week out.

| of course, but thinking more long term, after BG cos' he didn't seem to have any intention of giving up his position in the immediate future - he was obviously down after the wales game but stressed he had no intention of packing his bags.Maybe the FFR13 have other ideas...
If he did leave for whatever reason, I would go for LF at Dragons or someone well versed in the Dragons culture
Last season I don't recall seeing Bobby at any of the TO home games except one and none of the Catalan games I attended,as well as the LER games I watched - seems strange he's trying to select possible players from third parties in france. It's my only criticism of him.

| You would give your back teeth for another Felix Bergese or Jep Lacoste.
Even the new Louis Bonnery.

great thought but at nearly 97 years of age ,I feel M.Bergese is a little too old unfortunately !
why not be bold and appoint Laurent Frayssinous as coach with Jerome Guisset as assistant on a part-time basis ?

| LF or JG would work as assistants, but neither have first team coaching experience and neither have had the nod to coach UTC, let alone the national side.
