The more I think about it the more I think Menzies could be captain/coach.
He would have the respect of the player pool.
He would be fully up to speed with plans Robbo had for next year.
He has trained and played at the highest level and is actually older and knows more about the game than Robbo.
And lastly, he played for years with Hasler and Toovey and learnt all the same lessons they learnt, and those guys are the current cutting edge coaches in the NRL.

I think the salary cap situation would be difficult, but you could get around it by giving him a players money next year and a coaching contract for a year or two afterwards.

He would need an assistant coach who was senior enough to take control of the bench rotation on game day and who could put in a lot of time with younger players etc, but I think Menzies is one of the few guys who could do this.

That's the question.

Potter all but ruled out a return yesterday anyway

Potter would have been a safe option.

I think Guissett is only a year younger than Robinson - so older than Trent was when he got the Catalans job.

Twitter is saying Justin Morgan... so that's ruled Justing Morgan out.

Potter definitely out of the running. Just announced he's quitting Bradford and going back home. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say "all the best, Colonel"

There is some names in the local medias this month about our future head coach. Sounds like Brian Smith is in good position to get the job but Brian McClennan, Paul Green, Terry Matterson, Justin Morgan and Stacey Jones are also on the list.

Brian Smith is the guy who nearly ended the career of Scot Dureau at the Knights.

Hearing strong rumours that Frayssinous will be promoted to the top job. He should have learned a lot from Potter, Walters and Robinson, both good and bad.

Robinson has taken Keegan Smith with him (probably had to pay excess baggage) to the Roosters. Looking in from outside, I'd suggest that Smith's input was equally as valuable as that of Robinson in the resurgence of the club after the Walters years and will not easily be replaced.

That is bad news.

With Robbo after Casty too allegedly, he is in danger of destroying his legacy by nicking our crown jewels.

Casty to the NRL would be great. Not for the Dragons, initially at least, but for the lad and for Les Chanticleers.

Robbo stated straight away he wanted Keegan to join him at the Roosters and there was some issues obviously given who the departing coach was!! Keegan is one of the most knowledgable strength and conditioning coaches I have ever met or worked with and his loss is possibly more of a loss than Robbo's!!
