only down sides from today was the disgraceful refereeing-Bentham you are a tool, greeny's injury - dislocated elbow looking at at least 3 months, and carvells cowardly late challenge on dureau leaving scott on a stretcher on his way to hospital with suspected broken jaw and whiplash injuries!!

Scotty have been KO by Carvell's tackle and catalan's doctor is fearing neck's injury.

I have any news about Greenshields but his right elbow looked seriously injured.

Type Phil Bentham into Google and his birthplace gives the game away, how he is allowed to have anything at all to do with Warrington games is beyond me

Ask any Warrington fan and they will confirm Bentham gives Warrington nothing. Must say that he was very bad with calls both ways (well, I suppose that means we have consistency if nothing else). Catalans were worthy winner against a Warrington side who simply did not turn up.

Re the hometown referee debate. The day I think any ref is biased towards his home team is the day I give up watching sport. But there seems little to be gained by even having the possibility of it happening by giving refs games involving their home town team. It's about being seen to be doing it properly as much as it is actually doing it.
Name me another sport where this happens.

My issue is he wasn't consistant yesterday, he was totally biassed towards Warrington. Every 50-50 call went in their favour, and I lost count of how many decisions he pulled from his @r$€ hole throughout.

James Child got slated for giving 27 penalties on Friday, well Bentham gave 26 yesterday, 17-9 in Warrington's favour, Catalan weren't 8 penalties dirtier than Warrington. There was NO consistancy in his performance, but it will get brushed under the carpet!

For what it's worth, Bentham is only considered a Warrington official by a few hundred yards and is actually a lifelong Leigh fan.

The point still stands. Same with Ganson and St Helens, Alibert with Toulouse etc etc. It doesn't need to happen even if I understand the argument that it shouldn't matter where a ref is from.

Certainly don't disagree with what you're saying, John. I think a lot of this will stem from Cummings' time as an official when he was listed as a Widnes official (and called a "Scouse b@stard" accordingly) when he was actually from Whitehaven originally.
