Quote catalanglais="catalanglais"Are you trying to wind me up? Defence is the crucial element in winning Rugby League matches and if you have a full back ,who cannot catch the high ball or tackle anybody you will concede more tries than you should . It is not automatic with other teams that if their line is broken a try follows. Our coach knows this very well and may well be moving towards the replacement of Escare ,a man who simply cannot defend. What is needed is that fans study videos of every game last year and produce an Escare Audit.I honestly think that if he had been cast aside we would have been in the top 4. N.B. I attended every game in England -not a pleasant experience- and would note that in the one game where we defended well Escare had been dropped and replaced by Robin.
I concede that if one prefers entertainment to winning my views are irrelevant and perhaps even obnoxious.'"
I agree he is a fair weather player and isn't the best in the rain but he can defend? and he can catch the ball? If you are talking about that Salford game where he was dropped and Gigot played there, that was one of the worst performances I have seen from the Dragons. I think you are quite biased against Escare. Gigot is not an upgrade defensively. Yes I agree that when teams make a break it isn't an automatic try but apart from Hardaker (who is an exceptional defensive full back) all the other full backs in the league are the same as Escare defensively.
