Any Willie news?

Still trying to get a contract in the NRL and then loos like Super League (probably us) if he doesnt get one over there. Wish we had the option of bringing someone else in. Their are tons of great players in the Aussie lower leagues, should try nab one of them (but I am unsure of what our quota allowance is atm).

I see that Gigot is starting at full back instead of Escare tomorrow. Having spent the break studying every try conceded last year I am even more certain that Escare is such a liability in defence that his attacking flare in no way compensates. A good and long overdue move in my opinion.

What about when he tackled Albert Kelly v Hull KR at home to save a certain try? Or when he held Chris Hill up over the line? I think his problem is more that he is a fair weather player. Doesn't do well in the rain.

Haha yeah looks like Gigot has put a bit of size on tho. Firm believer that you pick your full back on his positioning/attacking process/safety under the high ball and the defence comes after that. Most of the time your full back can do nothing when players break the line.

It's an attacking position first and foremost in the modern game.

Indeed. Look at Tomkins. Biggest weakness is his defence and he is regarded as one of the full backs in the world by a lot of people.

Are you trying to wind me up? Defence is the crucial element in winning Rugby League matches and if you have a full back ,who cannot catch the high ball or tackle anybody you will concede more tries than you should . It is not automatic with other teams that if their line is broken a try follows. Our coach knows this very well and may well be moving towards the replacement of Escare ,a man who simply cannot defend.What is needed is that fans study videos of every game last year and produce an Escare Audit.I honestly think that if he had been cast aside we would have been in the top 4. N.B. I attended every game in England -not a pleasant experience- and would note that in the one game where we defended well Escare had been dropped and replaced by Robin.
I concede that if one prefers entertainment to winning my views are irrelevant and perhaps even obnoxious.
