But surely the final aim should be to form a Spanish Championship with a Spanish national side. Linking the success of RL there to the recognition (?) of Catalonia seems to mix a political agenda of local autonomy/independance with the development of the sport. There is no doubt that the RLIF should play no role in Spanish internal affairs.

Exactly. And if we want the game to grow in Catalonia, you could do a lot worse than being supportive of Catalan nationalism.

Bit of a shock that as I really fancied GEiEG to win the group and maybe even win the competition. Seems like the Barça lads are learning fast.
If GEiEG beat Sant Cugat by between 5 and 7 points next week FC Barcelona are into the final of the Campionat de Catalunya at their first attempt.
