he's just a big girl...(i can say that now I don't come up against him!). I ended up playing 3 games back to back against him - last game of season v Rochdale, a mid-summer match where he played as a ringer for a summer team, and then first game of the next season v Cobras...

| If any of these paphouse Fijians were any good they wouldnt be playing Division 4. Does my head in players playing Division 4 thinking they are super league. Plenty of clubs around in the NCL why not go play there...scared of getting smashed me thinks

Couldnt agree more!!!!
If I had half their talent (and youth) I would be paying NCL, but then you dont know fijians to well if you think 'playing at the highest level' is the main reason for the clubs they pick. not many of em drive, so it has to be local and Rochdale has the 2nd biggest Fijian population in UK (after London). And b4 you say it...yes there are Fijians at Rochdale Mayfield and they are in the NCL!!!!
dont think they even knew what division we were in when I asked em to play!!!!
All in all they are TOP lads and DEFO not paphouses!!!!!!

| New Springs have a meeting tomorrow night to decide if we shall be carrying on or pulling out. Too many lads letting the side down with not turning up on game day.

Hogan do you think with the amount of teams in Wigan that Open Age rugby has become saturated?
St Judes x 2
St Pats x 2
IRB x 2
Shevington
Ashton x 2
St Cuthberts x 2
Orrell
Spring View
Hindley
Wigan Bulldogs
New Springs
Thats 16 teams there if each has a squad of 17 thats....a hell of a lot of lads in Wigan to find!

I defo think so yes.
I think also you will find 80% of those teams mentioned above are currently sitting fairly low in the division. Which gives you an indiction of teams being stretched accross the borough.

| Postitive outcome from tonights meeting at New Springs. We shall be carrying on and have commitment from 19 players. Lets hope we can carry that commitment over into training and the games.

Personally I dont think it is saturated because theres every level of rugby available for every ability/desire to play. In terms of teams - for Wigan Bulldogs read Beechill, for New Springs read Crown Springs, for Hindley read Hindley Mk2. These teams aren't exactly new mostly reincarnations of old teams based in the same area that there's always been a team. There must a demand for places at clubs because Spring View and Hindley are both looking to establish a 2nd team due to numbers available or turning up to train play. The relative strength of teams will always ebb and flow as personell changes but with a strong junior scene around Wigan I can't see the number of teams changing much, a few name changes but not the number.
