| Played skirlaugh yesteday. good clean, hard game (becoming a rarity these days). We did ok at first then faded in second half, when we lost our bench through injury. Still, good game though, skirlaugh are a good, fast team and play rugby rather than just fight.

Enjoyed the game on sunday (I was number 5 with the orange boots)
I agree about the game, really clean and not mallicious.
Thought the score didnt really reflect the game as you lot really had us on the rack at times.
Not so sure about the referee and his penalising of any sort of talk to the opposition - but he was consistent.

Caliban does the ban on blades just cover metal ones or are the plastic moulded ones also banned?

Thats a question alot of people (inc. me) are asking.
If it does cover plastic moulded blades - then im £100 out of pocket.

I would say blades are blades, be it metal tipped or not.

Because if your are referring to the 'blades' as on the modern nike vapors (like below) then they arent harmful atall!
Whereas there are the genuine rugby blades that are quite leathel that are still openly available.

I don't know the make up or compound of those blades so its hard to comment.
I'm geussing here, when your walking on concrete or tarmac with your boots on, can you still scuff the edges of the blades, can it sharpen them?
I've seen refs check boots and you have, some do a good job and some don't.
I don't think ban is really aimed at youth and open age but BARLA will encompass all though.
I think it is mainly aimed at the young ones, how many times have you seen junior players walking up the street in their boots going to training, I bet its loads, I know I have.
BTW the RFL have not imposed a ban on blades, but I think that is more to do with worrying if some boot company sues them.

Maybe so, I was under the impression that the ban on blades referred to those that are similar to just a strip of metal. - That have been banned in both professional and amateur football for years.
If the ban does refer to the style pictured above then its a somewhat stupid decision as I would say over 50% of players wear a similar style due to the grip, and also they can be used all year round.
Problem is that BARLA havent quite claryfied what they mean.

Apparently the statement regarding the ban has been removed from Barla website, awaiting legal advice, decision to be made in january.
regarding all blades metal tipped and moulded.

Another ill thought out decision from BARLA. This blades issue has been ongoing for ages. If you're going to ban them do so from the start of next season.
I've just forked out £100 for some new boots a few months ago and whilst I could afford to replace them there will be plenty who can't.

Blades aren't banned in Union. Boots are checked by the ref before the game and any boots which are deemed dangerous (blades or studs) are not allowed.

Same as us then.
If Football which it has, RL and Union all decide to ban them maybe the makers will do something about it.
