None from Ashton at Orrell. Over the summer we (Ashton) lost some lads to NCL prem sides, some long term injuries which should hopefully clear round about Xmas time and a couple of retirements through age/injury has left the squad a bit thin on the ground with room for some new faces. Although the results don't show it yet things are picking up.

There are rumblings of the 2nds starting up again and maybe looking for friendlies in the new Year.

Please let me know wen you want a friendley, us at cobras are wanting to play some friendleys with someone too.

Looking at starting a 2nd team in the pennine league next year.

Like I said it was just a rumour I'd heard re Ashton & Orrell!..





Looks like Saddleworth at home next for us then, with Saturday being postponed. They ran Woolston close first game of the season.

What sort of a game was that? Some 1st in there???

think that is there first team pal, may be wrong though.

And have a guess what....Looks like there first team has no game on 7th November!!!

Thinking 7th November will be next round of cup for us at Spring View and just for my hubby xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Saddleworth 1st team are in the Conference mate. We played em 1st game away. All Im saying is I bet the same team dont come to Bennetts Rec! They were a big, physical team who had decent attack around the ruck and their left side......if its the same team that we played

Going off who we, Woolston, have played so far this year I reckon its going to be another highly competitive year.
We have played, so far
Dalton (H) won 16-11 - tough team who never go away. Good team
Ulverston (H won 42-16 & A won 42-22) - will be tough to beat, a good team and great bunch off the fiedl. Play some great rugby
Haresfinch (A) won 42-20 - Dont mean to sound harsh but we were garbage that day! A tight pitch didnt help but they have a few good players and never like down
Blackbrook (A) won 26-0 - If they keep that team they will pick up some points. Time will tell
Saddleworth (A) won 16-10 - If they had kept that side all year I think they could definately challenge for promotion. ooks like they havent.
West Bank Bears - (H) won 22-10 - Tough team who play some excellent rugby. A very good team.

Looking at results and the table to date, it looks like ourselves, Spring View, Moss Bank and West Bank will be the main challengers but some of the other teams can defianately cause some upsets along the way!

I personally think the teams that come away from Cumbria with the points will be the teams that finish top spot.

Look at the Dalton/Moss Bank result from the other week.

Moss Bank had beaten us men the week before comprehensively to be honest then go up to Dalton a team that we & Woolston have already beaten, and get beaten!

Needless to say, the 14th November will be a big day!
