A poor performance in the last quarter of the game saw blackpool score 24 unanswered points to record a big win over Chester, our woes on the road continue!

Shock result for me I honestly thought Rochdale would have had enough to topple Irlam

Ashton Bears A 12-42 Blackbrook A.

Ashton went down to their first loss of the season to a skillful Blackbrook side. Ashton gifted the game to Brook in the opening 25 with mistake after mistake which Brook ruthlessly capitalised on with scores, always the sign of a good side. Every time Ashton got into a scoring position a dropped ball, mistimed pass gave possession back, on one occassion on the 3rd repeat set. Turning round 28-0 down Ashton finally came to life and made big in roads into Brooks defence and went over with a deserved try. Ashtons rejigged defence kept tabs on the visitors skillful half-backs and dominated large parts of the half, breaking the strong Brook defence with another sweeping move. Another Ashton mistake saw Brook score a breakaway try and right at the death another Ashton dropped ball saw the winger scoot over to finish the score at 42-12. Credit to Brook because the best team deservedly won on the day and on this performance its hard to see past Blackbrook as champions of this division but Ashton took a lot from the game especially the 2nd half which finished 14-12.

This was a bit of a reunion game as well with both coaches meeting up again 29 years after playing in the same open age side!

Rochdale Cobras A 12 - 52 Irlam Hornets A
Yeah, didnt play for 2nds this week, neither did 8 of our main lads, ended up with 11 men playing hear. to be fair only two what you would call 2nds played for 1sts!!.....all i can say is when we have the boys its good....when we dont its...er...not!!!

Little Hulton 6-45 West Bank

Folly 48 - 12 Accrington
Accrington only came with 11 to start the game, so we had to give them two of our players as we had 18. Must admit I was expecting a much harder game than that and think it will be different at their place. Looking forward to next week against Blackbrook, who look in fine form.

Accrington Panthers V Rochdale Cobras A - Think at home Accrington will bounce back from last week. Depending on what team the cobras can put out.

Blackbrook A V Folly Lane A - Got to go for Folly as I can back against my team, Blackbrook have been in great form and are without a doubt the team to beat. After a slow start we're now starting to string a few good results together and hopefully we can stop brooks unbeaten run.

Chester V Culcheth- Not seen either team, but going of early results Chester looked fairly good. The result last week against Blackpool certainly came as a shock. Home advantage should see them through.

Fitton Hill V Little Hulton- Tough on, but at home I can see Fitton Hill breaking thier duck.

Irlam Hornets A V Blackpool Scorpions A - Again another tough one, I'll go for home advantage.

Leigh East A V Halton Simms Cross A - If Simmies get it right they are one of the top teams.

Widnes West Bank A V Ashton Bears A - Ashtons unbeaten run came to an end last week, and I can only see it continuing.

East didn't turn up for the last 45minutes. 10-0 up after 35 and switched off. 22-12 down after 45 and it got worse from there on. Culcheth played well and took advantage of some slack defence. Training on Tuesday isn't going to be fun...

You could ask if it the match would have been different if instead of the sin-bin, Culcheth's 9 got a Red for tripping - but that won't change the result.

Culcheth deserved their win and I'm sure will kick on from here. Now we just have to see how we bounce back from that last 45 minutes.
