| Find it odd that Bamber Bridge are calling games off, seeing as they had about 40 players in attendence for the ML final only 4 weeks ago.

| We ( Bamber Bridge) had until last week gone 5 years without calling a game off due to player shortage, no small feat in a soccer dominated area, especially having over the last 12 months backed up winter to summer without a real break, unfortunately Holidays, Work Commitments,Weddings and Stag Dos conspired against us i'm sure you all have been there at some point, we weren't very happy to lose that record as its one we are very proud of.
This week we were ready to go only for Latchford having similar troubles raising a team due in the main i believe to their Wednesday night game against Bank Quay.
Oh and We had in total 22 players down at the final out of our 26 man squad we used all summer, i know cos i bought them the shirts, the rest were just our loyal bunch of supporters who have never picked up a ball in anger.

| Good luck to every club but this interim league looks to me like the amateur clubs committee have made the decision to go summer without really asking the people you count (the players) an other club to fail to play the first game of the inerim season is Stanley Rangers.
I'd jump back to BARLA before clubs start losing players because they are not getting fixtures.

What would be the point in jumping back to BARLA ??
Both the winter and summer interim seasons have kicked off at the same time. If these teams are struggling for players now would playing under a different banner change things ??
Only time will tell if the switch is going to be successful and giving up two games into an interim season isn't really giving it a chance. If the trend of teams not fulfilling games continues into the proper season in 2012 then maybe clubs should then assess the situation and whether its beneficial to their club to switch back to winter rugby.
We're not happy at Adlington failing to come to Leigh East but last weeks game against Hindley was as tough as any we've had over recent seasons in the NWC divisions and if thats anything to go off we'll be happy to play summer rugby.

| I understand why the RFL have put this interim season in place but the clubs should not have gone into it!
Cobras have made the switch to summer but didn't go in the interim season.....our players have now gone to Mayfield 1st, 2nds and 3rds, Littleborough, Whitworth and RU clubs for the winter but I know we will have em all back come March.
Clubs need to trust their players to come back. If players chose to stay at other clubs there either not worth your time or your own club is doing something wrong!
You have to have an understanding with all the winter clubs that there your players and your doing them a favor. you never know they may return the favor come mid summer when you have lads on holidays.
just a thought!

| i personally don't see the point in letting players go and play for another club.
for the sake of a short season why not just play the fixtures and then allow players to have the option of playing winter league when the short season finishes ? ?
trust doesn't mean anything in my eyes when you take into account your own clubs financial benefits.
surely having your own team playing on a saturday and having players and supporters filling your own till is better than other clubs reaping the benefit of your players for the sake of a couple of months ??

| because we played the 10/11 NWCs winter league then went straight into summer 11, we are starting pre-season for the summer 2012 in Jan so if we played the interim we would have no break....the key players for our team and our capt said they needed a break.
plus i run the cobras and own the pub we run from, its no big deal......this is a case of letting the other boys know the grass isn't always greener without them leaving the club to find out and looking bad when/if they come back
I hope

| It hasn't been the best start to the interim season with teams posponing games as and when they want, Bank Quay played in both Warrington Cup finals last week and both games were tough but still managed to field teams for both fixtures on the Saturday although we could have easily not played the Thatto game to rest players.
The RFL have said that clubs will now have until January to apply for fixtures for the NWML 2012, and the start date for league fixtures will be as late as April now to allow clubs to make that transition across from Winter, I have heard that several clubs have asked about moving across for 2012 but we will just have to wait and see what happens, I think it inevitable that clubs move to summer, just how soon is the big question now.

Good john wilky last looked out
on the pitch at salford.
when the snow lay round about
deep and crisp and even
brightly played the lads that night
though the frost was cruelllll

| Is there a website where I can get fixtures and league tables from etc? We played Bank Quay on Saturday with yet again another depleted squad, but managed to hold our own for more than 60 minutes. Not had the best start with players and had to call the second team game off as we didn't have enough players for two teams, which is a shame.

| Thatto Heath Crusaders v Wigan St. Pats in the North West Men's League has been postponed this weekend. We at Thatto Heath have 9 of our NWML squad away at a wedding in Greece and contacted Pats a number of weks ago to alert them to this fact. It was our intention to use some of our Under 18s in the fixture initially but they have a massive winner takes all game to qualify for the play-offs with Halton Farnworth on Sunday. We are currently speaking to Pats about a date to re-arrange the game - possibly in a couple of weeks time in the midweek.
I was a bit annoyed that our lads didn't highlight this date as being an issue before the fixtures were issued as I could have asked for a free date on that day. As it happened I actually asked Matt Birkett to try to arrange our games against the other NCL second teams to match our NCL fixtures so we could play double headers of both the NCL and NWML games - something which he managed to do on this occasion.
The NCL fixture between THC and St.Pats is still taking place on Saturday with a 2.30pm kick off. I will post the date of the re-arranged game as soon as we agree it with St.Pats. I spoke with Kelly Barrett this morning and she was looking to arrange a game between St.Pats and Leigh East for this Saturday.
