| Quote Dan1989Eden="Dan1989Eden"Yeh Roblin, i've been on the end of one of those slide tackles in training you Pr1ck lol,
Well played bury, very controlled performance and saw out the game although a few dodgey very late tackles from yourselfs and a couple of your crowd let you down.
Our inexperienced players gave away stupid penalties at the wrong time, plus our fitness in defence wasn't up to scratch.
Some of the results coming in look tastey and with good numbers down training this week i think we'll manage to edge out westhoughton for the win.'"
I think some of your bigger lads definitely struggled in the heat a bit - our 2 biggest lads (6'9" and 6'7") didn't play this week, and our other big boy at 20 stone only did about 10 mins, I think it was this mobility that gave us that extra go-forward later in the game.
Some of the crowd and subs were a little enthusiastic, to say the least - it's something we've discussed and will be addressing. Only really noticed 1 late hit? Our loose forward flattening someone just after he released? Pretty sure he got pulled for it...
Quote Dan1989Eden="leagueorunion"Good game lads, we were a little disappointed with a couple of sloppy tries we let in, but fair play to you lads you played well and all in good spirit. With regards to the "tripping",
its a legal tackle mate, not one penalty was given for it, its not nice being on the receiving end though i know, as it does feel like a trip, but it isnt
Iv been sent off once for it where i got it wrong Vs Hindley, but apart from that never been penalised once in 10+ years.
Good luck for the rest of the season lads.
Oh, and you did a good job of your posts
'"
 Thanks on the posts!!
Hate to say it but you did get pulled on one 'trip' on our number 8; he put on a good step out wide on your right (our left) in the 2nd half - the touch judge definitely flagged it and the ref gave us a penalty. The way I saw it you were putting the leg out and then grabbing for the shirt? I know the old 'Alfie Langer' style tackle is legal, but didn't think your technique was? I stand to be corrected...

| A tackler must not make use of any special “holds” or
“throws” which are likely to cause injury or use his knees
in the tackle. It is permissible for a tackler to bring a
player in possession of the ball to the ground by pulling
him over the outstretched leg provided he is holding the
player with both arms before there is any contact with
the leg.

| It's clear that Div 5 will once again be a very competitive place to play this season.
Some big changes will happen at Newton in the next week or so...watch this space!!

That was for a high tackle mate by another member of the team, i did my Paul Scholes effort but another lad went too high too.
Good luck for rest of season

Some very close ones again - reckon Bolton will be too strong for Wigan, St Cuthbert's over Chorley, gotta go with Bury over Eccleston, Newton-Westhoughton will be very tight, having played and beaten them both in the last month it's hard to call but just gonna give it to Newton, Wild Boars should just pip Rylands in another close one, and Crosfields over Widnes.
Bolton Mets vs Wigan Bulldogs
Chorley Panthers vs Wigan St Cuthbert's A
Eccleston Lions vs Bury Broncos
Newton Storm vs Westhoughton Lions
St Helens Wild Boars vs Rylands Sharks A
Widnes Tigers vs Crosfields

| Eccleston Lions 30 - 18 Bury Broncos
We just didn't switch on. Eccleston started strong but couldn't break us down and Bury scored first, then it was tit-for-tat with Bury deservedly leading 10-12 at half time. First 15 mins of the second half we were awful, couldn't tackle, kept dropping the ball in our 20, giving penalties away, etc. A team as strong as Eccleston will always punish that and ran in 3 tries. Thought Eccleston were good, seemed to read our game and controlled the ruck area very well, ran hard and their defence was tight (though we didn't help by sending our forwards in one at a time!!). And they seem to be getting bigger!!!
Other results:
Bolton Mets 16 - 34 Wigan Bulldogs
Chorley Panthers 22 - 26 Wigan St Cuthbert's A
Newton Storm 6 - 24 Westhoughton Lions
St Helens Wild Boar 24 - 10 Rylands Sharks A
Widnes Tigers 14 - 12 Crosfields
