Cowies mate we are only throwing 4/5 lads in that played in nwc div3 last season we are just using this comp as pre season and help a few 18s progress into the open age side but up to your men to get the summer league sorted would love to play your men again as they are top games. Even maybe a pre season friendly in middle of august or something would be good.

Banter or not, it's just interesting as Riversiders have no reason to have in-town rivalry as the team are made up of players from many different winter clubs through out the town.

Ashton Bears A 22 - 12 East Lancashire Vikings.

The Bears A side got back to winning ways following last weeks 34-16 loss away at the Vikings. With players returning from injury we had a more settled look about the side and quickly took the initiative. The more experienced Vikings Pennine league players from West Craven Warriors started to have an effect though and at half time the score was 12-6 to Ashton. A tense second half followed with the Vikings scoring again. Hard graft from the forwards and extra pace out wide edged Ashton back into the lead and they closed the game off with a converted try 10 mins from time. Two great games over two weekends played by two skillful and commmitted sides. Honours even so far but a very encouraging summer for the new start team at Ashton.
