If any teams get their games cancelled at short notice we Spring View A would be willing to play contact Anita 07743414894, we should have been playing Hindley A tomorrow but they just rang and cancelled. icon_eek.gif would have to be away as 1st team are at home v Langworthy.

Quote: mad_as_toast "Disappointed with some of our (East) defence on Saturday. We let in some really soft tries. That could be down to the fact that we're still finding our feet again after not playing since Feb and with some of our players graduating to the 1st and 2nd team squads, we're back in a "getting to know you" phase with some of our newer players. But fair play to West Bank - they are a well drilled side who kept on coming. The score could have been a lot closer if not for a couple of good tackles from WB to hold up over the line on two occasions and a penalty try.

As for Blackbrook, when they are at home, they are a different animal all together (especially when their 1st team are away in Barrow!) and that pitch is an absolute monster.'"

i think east where lucky to score and where never really in the game we (WBB) have started well as have 1st both with 3 wins from 3 but think tomorrow will be tough our 2nds are missing a few through u18's service area and 1st have a few missing so will take some from 2nds.

Cant see simmies 2nds raising a side again tomorrow either as there 1st are really struggling at the min with injuries and bans

just with the 1st havin r milly, j durbin, c duggan all banned and following tge tragic news of chris percival didn't think dave or neil would be playing then with the likes of d magee and g conroy signing for the maries surely it must leave the 2nds short!! But if thats not the case then good luck pal!!

Rochdale Cobras A 0 - 18 Ashton Bears A.

Following the phone call saying Rochdale couldnt raise a side a hastily arranged friendly took place against Spring View A. After a very close affair Ashton managed to post a 24-22 win in the dying minutes after clawing their way back from 22-10 down. Thanks go to Spring View to getting their side down to Ashton with an hours notice and credit to both sets of players for a hard fought game and for appreciating they had a stand-in referee and making his job a lot easier.

Any scores from today?

Widnes West Bank A 34 - 32 Chester ARLFC

Really good close game of Rugby League with Widnes snatching it from Chester in the final 5 minutes despite Chester getting a couple of penalties that they could have gone for a kick at goal but we wanted the win.......Really pleased with the effort of the Chester team.

Some good results again this weekend i see .. widnes and chester looked like a cracker but i went watching blackbrook A on saturday entertain Culcheth .. brook got on the board quite early .. with a nice break and then after that it was just down hill for culcheth .. blackbrook just kept pushing and pushing and there defence was unbreakable ... there really gonna be the team to beat this year .. got some really good young players .. who are the ones to watch. deffinatley gonna go watch them again.

Is it true that the games have been called off this saturday due to the Grand Final ?

As far as I am aware no games have been called off due to the GF this weekend so here are the fixtures for this week

Ashton Bears A v Irlam Hornets A
Blackpool Scorpions A v Leigh East A
Chester v Fitton Hill
Culcheth v Widnes West Bank A
Folly Lane A v Rochdale Cobras A
Halton Simms Cross A v Blackbrook A
Little Hulton v Accrington Panthers

I know that the Chester game is a 1pm kick off to allow lads to travel to the Grand Final, Think Simms Cross v Blackbrook could be the game of the round really close but I am going to go with Blackbrook edging it slightly.

I would just like to say im a local spectator that goes and watch teams who i know and like around the st helens region. iv been to watch Blackbrook A Twice this year .. there opener against fitton hill and there most recent Culcheth. But i would like to say ( i know its goin back weeks now). But Blackbrook A beat Fitton hill 72-7 but why did it get marked down as 27-7 and why hasnt it been changed yet. Blackbrook A's goal differance should be skyhigh but its nt what it should be. Could someone please change it please because goal difference could be a factor at the end of the season. Thank You.

Simms Cross A 20 - 44 Blackbrook A

Excellent game today played how rugby should be played, hard and fair.

Blackbrook set off like a house on fire, using there massive and mobile pack to the best of its ability, scoring 22 points in the first 20 mins until Simmies got a score on the board, another 2 tries put Brook ahead 32-4 at half time.

The second half however was a different story with Simmies playing some good rugby and keeping Brook at bay with some excellent defensive work, but as in the first half they used there assets to the best of there ability and put more points on the board, to there credit Simmies NEVER stopped battling and scored 16 points in the second half.

One of the Blackbrook lads said at full-time......that was a really good win because not many teams will come to Simmies and beat them, I have to add that not many, if any sides in that Div 6 will beat Blackbrook if that team that turned up today turns up every week.

Well done to all the lads that played for both sides today
