To be fair irlam played the worse i have seen them play for a long time .
Spring views tatics of getting players to lie on the floor to stop play on every set stopped the flow of the game imho.
But there is no bitterness because at the end of the day we seem to get better as we go along, just ask your new springs players you have from last season .
Also with no regular half backs for irlam the organisation was pretty clueless.
The Return fixture will show a proper account of irlams team .
By the way it was 18-10 The loose forward kicked a goal from the touchline if you dont remember.
Well don Spring View cant wait to watch the return fixture lets see whos best then k020.gif

i have seen springview a few times over the lat 6 months or so and let me tell you i haven't seen many amateur teams with a defence likes theres. Very difficult to penetrate down the middle with a pack that domiante teams both goin forward and in defence. if saturday was anything to go by I honestly cant see many teams getting anything out of springview, i cant see them coming up against many bigger sides, having said that irlams attacking creativity was nothin special in my opinion. Springs were totally dominant in defence and a credit to them.

from a neutral perprective...most of irlams tackling was inept with no technique which may explain the high shots, following in with the knees, flopping, 3rd man in, etc etc, which caused the stoppages in play with Springs players getting knocks.....if you want a free flowing game. CLEAN UP YOUR DEFENCE IRLAM.

No mate, I was the one marking the stats sheet every time your guys gave a penalty away. But hey, if you fancy bringing me a pint over when we come to your place I wouldn't say no . . . I might even return the gesture icon_biggrin.gifRUNK:

Look forward to another good game sometime soon, may the best team win !

The jammydodger i have to say i agree with you totally about the spring view defence,
However if irlam didnt give as many silly penaltys away, which gave spring view a hell of a lot of yards it would of been a total different game.
6 points for an interception try and 2 points on a penalty goal that you missed at first but the ref gave you another chance, irlam had a try disallowed for offside, which i thought was a fine try but never mind its done now .

And lastly just to add i thought spring view were the better team on the day and deserved the win.
I thought both teams werent at their best either so the return fixture will be a better game, when you get your players back that didnt play and we get ours as well.
all the best for the season apart from when you play at ours, spring view are a very well disciplined good team and play the game very well .

think ill discipline was 1 of your biggest worries,as for the re-taken penalty give your lad a pat on the back for his gobbing off and trying disrupt the kick(dont think thats in the rule book) but like you said thought it was a close contest and no doubt we will have to improve on our performance aswell

Abit quiet on here today! I am new to this so not sure if all this banter is good natured! Having been around this great game for many years I would expect it is.

A few interesting fixtures in terms of the top of the table with spingview takin the long trip to ulverston...not seen ulverston so can't comment on them...I think if the same springview team go there as I've seen of late especially there pack....then only one result for me, a springs win.

Langworthy and irlam should be interesting....the team who can keep there heads and 13 on the field should win that local derby.

Leyland are looking strong and consider them the dark horses in this division!

Strange u would ask mr dodger....neil cowie...prop, much like myself, that bit derives from my rather average attempts at emulating the man himself, hope that clears that one up for you!

played both spring veiw and irlam in the last two season there defo the front runners for the league both play great rugby in both defence and attack.

just one thing about both teams that we at are club noticed they seamed very very arrogant attitudes and dont show so called lesser teams any respect!!!!! they seamed to think they were gonna turn and we would give them the game. we got stuck in to them and that attitude soon change they beat us at rugby with some good stuff once there bully boy stuff went away.

maybe they have change from when i last played them hope so as there both class sides just hope they have found that bit of extra class.

to win gracefully!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
