miners won again but was probably the worst they have played this season,started ok but it was a poor 2nd half performance and they will have to improve if they want to have the bragging rights in next friday's derby.

You seem to be having a good season which, from a neutrals point of view is good to see. Can you tell us a bit of background to the squad - how have they been recruited, experience, are they enjoying it as much as the results suggest.

There`s not much to tell really, this is their first season playing together, and they all come from a rugby union background although two of the lads had a couple of games for the Colts last season. As far as recruitment goes, the Crusaders held a trials day where 105 lads turned up and the squad was selected from that, although the coaches are always on the look out for new talent.
As far as enjoyment goes from what I can see the lads are absolutely loving it and that is reflected in the results I suppose. Ten of the boys who are involved in the Crusaders set up represented Wales in Prague earlier this year where they won the European championship and seven of the current squad are involved with the current GB under 18 community Lions.
As I stated on a different forum thousands of talented youngsters play rugby in Wales every weekend most of whom have been throwing a rugby ball around since the age of six. With the Crusaders opening the player pathways now through the schools the potential for rugby league in Wales is massive.

No game for us this weekend or next. The RFL have stopped the GB boys playing, and along with injuries we are unable to field a side.


Leigh Miners are setting the standards in this league but excellent results for both North London and Gateshead who seem to be hitting a bit of form.

So lets do some maths. 7/8 of the boys are with GB and a few injured thats still about 90 odd boys to pick from.

Doesn't sound like East Leeds are too impressed with the call off. They reckon they've lost £1000s in lost hotel bookings.

Siddal could only raise 14 players last week but they still travelled all the way down to fulfil the fixture.

We want to play as much as much as any team in this league the lads were gutted there was no game this weekend. We played against Featherstone and Ince with 14 lads but with 7/8 in the GB squad, 2 out with long term injuries (broken jaw and shoulder injury) and 2 out with a virus there was no way we could field a team.
