| 7 lads at our first training session last night. Seems to be more apathy than excitement but we'll see...

was similar with us...had 10, max 12 over recent weeks but picked up this week to 17 last night and 20/21 different people across the two nights this week. some lads have said that it's been tough playing winter, summer, winter back to back.

| Chester 36 - 16 Bury (I think)
Gave a penalty 10 metres out on the very first tackle and conceded straight away - not a good start! Was fairly even for the next 40 or so though we let Chester in once or twice. After half time we fell apart a little and conceded a few on the bounce but then muscled up again for last quarter, scoring a beauty at the last minute.
Pleased with the performance today against a MUCH bigger Chester side. Travelled with no props and 3 lads on debut, with lads filling in all over the place and the smallest team we've probably ever fielded! Chester were unspectacular but effective and we couldn't organise ourselves at times, with some stupid errors. Very enjoyable game and a fair result, Chester are a good bunch and played in great spirit.

| We had to admit defeat and concede our first game after only having 9 lads available to play against Folly Lane A.
We shall regroup at training this week and hope to start our season at Chester this weekend.

Not a bad result for Bolton really considering it was probably a brand new team

Large majority gone back to Winter clubs including Rugby Union.
One of our lads got married on Saturday which didnt help player selection (how selfish)
We "should" be ok this weekend.

No, we've got Chorley at home. We've all got bloody man flu though, dropping like flies. Gonna be a snotty game!
Should also be:
Bank Quay Bulls A v Thatto Heath Crusaders
Bolton Mets v Hindley A
Newton Storm v Folly Lane A
Chester v Wigan Riversiders
Little Hulton Reds v Culcheth Eagles
Burtonwood Bridge v Widnes West Bank

| Well beaten by Chorley, think it was Bury 16-50odd Chorley. From a depleted squad of 15 we finished with 12, a few of us played with man flu and 4 finished with pretty bad injuries.
We started very cold and conceded 3 tries straight away, but then took control and had the better of the next half hour, scoring 3 tries and getting back in it, very even at half-time. Unfortunately we fell apart in the second-half as one went to hospital and others picked up knocks. Proud of the lads for grafting through a tough day.
Chorley were a lot bigger and played a simple but effective game - at least they started that way, but bombed 2 tries through showboating late on. Good game, very enjoyable and in good spirit even if the scoreline wasn't great!
I feel like complete crap. 70mins with what can only be really serious swine flu probably wasn't the best idea.
