| Cheers shawy....looks well when we get better coverage in cumbrian press than we do in the wigan press.
Having played in 4 times v Irlam in the two years and on numerous occasions v Woolston including one this year one thing is for sure, it won't be for the faint hearted. Should be a belter.
It did look shaky for us Fred u are right, we lost 3 games at home by no more than 2,3,4 points around October time swell as getting beat at langworthy....at the time I didn't want to undermine the opposition we have a small squad and during that period of the season we had lost a few to knocks and work, we went to HFH with 14 men, and dominated a good side on there own patch....for me turning our season around, I think winning 9 of the last 10.
We are a completely different side to last year, we lost our top try scorer, for the entire season, our captain, and a player who cleaned up in last years presentation for two thirds, plus half of our pack retiring in the summer.....for me this year is sweeter than last year and it a credit to everyone involved. Proud guy.

| Woolston Rovers 30 - 14 Irlam Hornets
Some big lads on that pitch today! The scoreline flatters Woolston quite a bit, they scored a 2-3 runaway tries late on in what was a fairly even contest. Irlam were hit early by the loss of a key half-back and that showed with lack of organisation at times. Woolston then went into the lead something like 18-4 before Irlam pulled it back to within 6 points.
Woolston played the game well and spotted Irlam's right side defence was poor, they attacked several times and made yards every time, scoring down that side a few times. Was pretty even down the middle - Woolston's bigger lads took some putting down, and a couple of Irlam's showed good pace and feet, a great try from a young Irlam 2nd Rower being a highlight.
Irlam had their chances to win and were camped on Woolston's line for several sets on a few occasions, but bombed it and just kept trying to barge over from dummy half or first receiver - lack of communication and organisation really showed and despite having a couple of ball handlers they kept going for brute force. Woolston's No.7 was flying out the line on every tackle looking for the interception and eventually got one, going the length to score and kill Irlam off. Woolston ran in a couple more in the last few minutes as Irlam's heads dropped.
In all, Woolston probably the better side - more organised and showed better hands, with solid defence.
