We went down to Irlam with a young side average age was 21 and straight from kick off all they sent out to do was rough us up and intimdate us. In the first 10 minutes one of there players blatantly booted our hooker in the back and the referee did f*** all the was an old guy with glasses what joke he was. Then our 17 year old stand off was retreving the ball back after it had been kicked out of play and one the player puched him in the face and we got f*** all again. Think the end score was 24 - 46 to Irlam but I was well pleased with our team for standing up to them. When you play teams like spring view / west bank you get tough hard games but they play with in the rules of the game Irlam just wanted to prove how much they could hurt and intimidate our team any way they could. Having said that they did play some really good rugby at points and they are were they are in the league for that reason

Why do you think irlam ain't beaten SV? Only one answer because they can't intimidate them. Having played most teams in div 2 who are not easily intimidated irlam will struggle. What you have to realize is that playing rugby will always win you more games in the higher leagues than using intimidating tactics as the refs get better and don't stand for any of it.

end of the day we are all guilty at times of throwing our weight around, and in the past we have done our fair share, one thing we have improved on this year is using aggression at the right times in the right way, automatically improves your disciplline....and that for me is the difference in this years SV and last years. I still say the best hiding we have had was WB at our place last year, that game was not strewn with penalties that you might expect in a 0-24 reverse, but may have been the hardest game iv ever played in, as were the other games west bank, woolston, dalton, askam and all the other games v the top established sides...V irlam we did not play our best stuff but we kept our heads and got the job done. lets not muck about, Irlam are a top side and i honestly think have more than matched us in both games home and away.

Hindpool 34-28 Langworthy

Was a stop start game due to the apalling referee who seemed more bothered about dishing out cards. 4 yellows and 2 reds and it wasnt even a dirty game. Massive credit to Langworthy who turned up understrength and give it a real go although I do feel that with a different ref allowing the game to flow then we would have won a lot more convinvingly.

Fair comment Cowies - SV have had a great season and are a good side, I agree Irlam have matched you both games but credit where credit is due you got the 2 points both times. I don't think there are many shrinking violets in amateur RL and sometimes it boils over whoever is playing, its in the nature of the game. Discipline and rugby ability as people mentioned win rugby games 99% of the time and that is the right way and how it should be.

Division 3 has been very competitive this year and credit has to go to all the sides, hardly anyone has been tanked and anyone can beat anyone on the day
