Quote: R.B.A "Correct. The squad and strategy that Justin is using for this game has heaped a lot of pressure on Agar to ensure he wins the game to avoid embarrasment. Dare i say a "must win" friendly for the black and whites?'"

See my post above mate - totally agree. If Agar doesn't get the win then he will really feel the pressure mounting in anticipation of another humiliating season...

Quote: General Zod. "The vast majority of everyone connected with FC are desperate to see them get a win tomorrow because of the humiliation they've been subjected to in the last 2 seasons and I'm sure Agar sees this as a great opportunity to restore faith with the FC fans and his starting line up indicates he plans to play his strongest available starting side with as least positional changes as possible to enable he gets the win.

Rovers fans of course want a win, but not as much as we've won 5 of the last 6 derbies so it's becoming old hat. Justin Morgan IMO is playing yet another master stroke by starting with an inexperienced side including Latus, Ratu, Watts & Taylor and tipping pressure on Agar whilst giving our young players chance to play in a pressure cooker of an atmosphere for the experience and to see how they respond.

If Rovers' youngsters get a foot-hold in the game in the first 20 mins and Cooke pulls out his usual derby magic, then no doubt Rovers bench will come on and rub some salt in and the Agar would come of out the experience humiliated IMO.'"

Yeah,I am sure you will be bored out of your brains if you win the next league derby. We won`t hear a thing about it. icon_lol.gif

We have been hammered in the papers lately about how great Thunder will be this season with their new signings. So called know alls in the papers and on the radio about this powerful looking squad they now have. About how they will finish comfortably above Rovers. Meanwhile the maestro that is justin morgan has been playing it cool and keeping quiet. Secretly Rovers players are bursting to get onto that kfc pitch and start kicking the black n white pensioner brigade. I predict a comfortable win the for the most famous name in rugby Hull kingston Rovers, a ten point margin.

Quote: Gavin Miller - Legend "Dont confuse us saying Hull will win with negativity.
You wont hear many saying it around Good Friday time.
But the team Morgan will pick shows he really is using this game to try different things out.
And lots of the young kids will be involved.'"

I think you're missing the point. Rovers have named more players, granted, but have a settled core team that finished 4th in the regular season, and, as Zod said, have won 5 from 6. As you have mentioned on many occasions, you finished above us in the reserves comp as well and have signed Ratu and Hodgson, so these "kids" are not genuine rookies. FC's team will take time to gel, and it's unlikely that things will be the finished article on their first outing. I don't understand why people are tipping FC to win. The hype around the new signings has been excellent, hence fantastic take-up in season and testimonial tickets, but anyone expecting a slick FC performance should give their head a bang.

Quote: Gavin Miller - Legend " Having said that iF Rovers won how negative would the Hull fans be then Nonsense, for the reasons stated. Both teams blooding new players and combinations. Rovers 4th, FC 12th. Rovers 5 from 6. It would just be business as usual.

The team Hull are putting out is far more experianced to the one Rovers are.
The settled team thing doesnt come into it given the starting 13 Rovers are naming.
Ratu and Hodgson - i doubt if they are into double figures for SL appearannces between them so that point is flawed.
Hull have targetted this game as its their only freindly against SL opposition.
If that Rovers team tomorrow wins the negativity will be all over your forum and you know that.

Being honest, I don't expect FC to win, just because of the fact they've not played a single game together with big changes having been made. 8 places is a big gap to close, and Reece Lyne, who'll be playing for us, is only 16.
Doesn't mean I'll be all doom and gloom though, unless we incur any injuries.

Answered your own question there I think.

I think Hull will win tomorrow. The one dimensional 5 forward barges & a kick approach Agar clearly favours is perfect for playing in January. Not so good in the summer though.

Quote: R.B.A "What is negative about it? I think that it is a good thing that Justin may experiment positionaly with a few players aswell as handing debuts to numerous players. Can only be a good thing long term for Rovers.
Surprised Agar isnt taking the same opportunity with Kent, Briscoe, Tuffour, Aldous, Nicklas etc.'"

i think the reason he isnt giving these young kids a chance is that Agar really wants this win, Its his team now with his signings and a win will breed confidence, where as a loss and a poor showing will have SOME fans saying "here we go again"

Lets be right about it it doesn't matter wither way really, I want to see us come through unscathed after a good hit out.

The last time we played Hull in a friendly we won the first 24 meaningful games icon_biggrin.gif

I disagree about Agar desperately wanting the win bit, even though a win would be nice. If we're only having 2 preseason friendlies this year before the start of the season, surely you want to be playing your best team in both matches to help them gel so you're up and running for the first game?
