Is there a crack epidemic in pickering?'"
Not in Pickering, but there was one in Hull recently when Spencer Tunick came to town. Bum bum.

| I listened to a Manchester radio commentary for the first half, couldn't find a Hull based one. After 20 minutes their commentators were singing the praises of Tilse, also Walker and I think Allgood. They complemented Rovers on error free rugby in poor conditions and blamed poor discipline for Leigh's bad start. Unfortunately just as they said that, errors started to creep into Rovers play and they seemed to fall to pieces. The commentators thought Leigh's subs had much more impact than ours and they thought the game swung Leigh's way when Tilse went off. So someone appreciates him. Sounded like a pretty fair opinion from them, which surprised me a bit, I'd expected a bit more bias. Then I went for my tea at half time fearing the worst, by the time I got back it had happened. Not looking forward to watching it on HKRTV but one of the hazards of being Yorkshire, I've paid for it so I'll have to watch it now. Much beer in fridge to help.

| Webster not playing boudezba again was poor.he tackles hard and is a nasty little sod. Played Tim nice but dim instead.dixon will now probably get a game and be under that much pressure he will Mess it up again which is a shame cos if he was playing behind a decent team he could be very good.beat London and fev (which I am far from sure of)sets up giants match loser in mpg.if campese is fit he needs to play next 2 games and prove it..cant have him run out vs hudds again look great for 15 min then pull up.we need some positive news, some leaders on and off pitch but the current players look shot and Mr squeak as coach inspires me as much as the players it seems?

| Tilse isn't the worst member of your pack by any stretch. He's an easy target for criticism because he's big, slow and lumbering, but his work rate is good and his go forward is acceptable. Larroyer on the other hand...

| I don't agree with all the flack Tilse gets, He is a long way off the best in the league but his stats don't lie. He makes good yards. I would rate only Walker & Allgood above him. In my opinion we have some good prospects in Greenwood & Mulhern but they are to young to be the lead against the likes of Hansen, Hock & Tickle. At the start of the season I thought we would need two big nasty front row forwards added to what we had & with the lack of a leader we have struggled. Blair is a class act (my choice for player of the season) but not a natural organiser & Kelly behaving like a tool put far to much pressure on Marsh (who will become a good player). Lunt coming off was a big mistake (unless he is not 100%) he could move to loose & let Budebsa take some tackles in the middle. Josh Hogson dose it week in week out in the NRL. Lets hope we can regroup or it will be years before we get back into super league if we could survive the drop.

| As a Leigh fan this makes interesting reading, as I compare Tilse to our forwards, I feel if you put him in our team around big forwards who share the workload he would be a real stand out player.
There are not many teams with a set of forwards as big as Leigh, this is were we came unstuck last year, we were just too lightweight which I can see in your backrow/bench.
This year with Hansen, Weston, Hock, Patterson, Hopkins, & tickle all well over 6ft and 100KG+ we generally out bully teams up front and that has co-incided with our style of rugby change, add too that Moi Moi & Maitua you have a very good blend of size & power. We released average forwards like Emmitt & Haggerty realising the problem with "smaller" forwards against SL packs. Puletua gave us nightmares last year.
I don't know how much Tilse is paid but I bet its 3 times as much as Weston who we got for peanuts from Melbourne with an impressive 8 year NRL career behind him & he's only 29.
Forwards cost you on Saturday (I know Cockayne had a shocker) but after Tilse & Walker you had nothing, added to that I think someone had upset Hansen as he nearly killed people.
You are too strong to go down, I think you are 2 props & a back rower off being a top 8 team.
There is too much expectation on Tilse & Walker.

| From the outside looking in, Tilse always seems to play long stints, and looks knackered for a while before he's brought off. He'd probably be more effective if he had 2 shorter spells each game

But this is going to be more important soon. Is it 2017 when the number of interchanges is going to drop again? Forwards need to be able to play for longer. That's one reason why other teams big packs may struggle soon.

You Have a good point, thought I read that Chester was building a fast lightweight pack that would bother bigger teams to take account of less interchanges? it was not his fault that the clubs stayed with the interchanges. The NRL went down to 10 & 8 next year that's why the likes of Frank Pritchard & Dave Tylor turned up in Super league as well as some more retired early in Aus. As I have said our side is to light especially for weather like Saturday. They are also on the young side up front (except Tilse) we just need a pair of nasty old heads like Hock Hansen & Tickle. I would have thought JP would have understood that? or did he learn nothing at Leeds.

| Having watched the game again - Larroyer was at best poor for you and we targeted Tilse making him work very hard, he was knackered.

| I keep reading about this plan for a light but mobile pack. It may someone's grand design but I'm more likely to believe it was just a justification for the pack we ended up with.
But the players are only half the job, to make the plan work we need to play the right game. If we are to tire the oppositions bigger, nastier forwards out then we've got to move them around a lot more than we do. We won't do that with conventional rugby, one man drives from first receiver into three man tackles.
Can we risk playing a more expansive game, keeping the ball alive, offloads, quick play the balls, intelligent kicking, dummy runners? I'm not convinced we can, we'd make too many errors and give the opposition time to recover. That wouldn't have been the answer v Leigh in those conditions anyway.
We seem to always be aiming for less errors ( presumably by playing a more conservative game) and a good start, when the lighter pack plan surely needs a more expansive game and capitalise on our advantage later on when their forwards tire, completely the reverse of what we are setting out to do. Right players, wrong game plan?

| Leigh understood that in the conditions (monsoon) both teams were going to make mistakes (which they did). Leigh started to kick the ball early and attack the ball defensively, meaning the game was played in our half of the field and allowing them to capitalise on our mistakes. Webbo didn't get the tactics right, this wasn't a game for completing sets it was a game for kicking the ball down the field.
