Here's a different point of viewI am not anti agent at all they have their place in pro sport and as you say they get players a good deal than they would themselves but they seem to have more power than is healthy.
To use Sandra's term most players are stupid and their agents do their thinking for them, You then see the size of an agents client list.
That leads to agents having more power than just someone who gets a player a good deal but someone who can hold a club to ransom if they so wish due to the sway they have.
IMHO if you think agents don't look and act for the best deal for themselves as well as for the player than I believe you are just as naive as I am.

Agents are a necessary evil in sport. Without them clubs would probably just exploit players instead.
Like some of the unions, I imagine some agents will use blackmail as their only tool for negotiation.
Agent fees are a massive problem in football, in RL - do agents get their taste when a player moves clubs? Or is it more, if a said agent has a cosy/good relationship with a club, and 'persuades' his client to move there, he gets his taste another way?

Oh agents are needed I agree you only have to look at the association game pre Jimmy Hill to see that (Although he wasn't an agent IIRC he helped break the strangle hold that the clubs had on player wages when he helped fight against it).
I can't imagine an agent working with getting fee's TBH which is what I assume you are referring too.
Getting Back to Jimmy Hill I do wonder if he ever regrets opening the pandoras box of players wages.

Where have I said that? Nah, didn't say that. Of course they do, they're businessmen - but ultimately it's the player who signs the deal they feel is right for them. A player is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for their services after all.
Take your red & white specs off.
You've basically gone on a tirade on something you clearly know nothing about, making up conspiracy theories based on no facts about clubs being held to ransom and how agents act. It works both ways and clubs will take advantage of certain situations too. Gorm.

Obviously they get paid somewhere, I was wondering from where their main income comes.
Naturally the players will pay for such services, but in football (think) the extorted agent fees you hear/read about mainly arise from transfers/signing on fees etc.
Given that RL doesn't really operate with big money transfer deals, do agents therefore get their big pay days when they bring a player to another club?

You accused me of being anti-agent something I am not (Not that I expect you to admit it) as they are needed to stop players getting screwed over.
But having so many players on the books of one man is bound to cause a conflict of interest at some point.
Infact the HDM even hint towards that very issue 'Relations between KR and the player's agent, David Howes, have been strained for some time, following a dispute over a previous player deal earlier in the season.'
Now what does a previous player have to do with Scott Taylor unless his agent is getting shirty over it and is playing silly games?
Have we done it the past?
Yes.
Did I say how uncomfy I was that a fair few of our squad and our coach shared the same agent in previous seasons.
Yes.
Sorry if you think that I am wearing red and white specs but I'm not.
Agents are middle men but having a large client list WILL lead to a larger chance of a conflict of interest IMHO.

| Do you think the rovers offer to taylor is worth more per season than they have agreed to pay the 2 average overseas forwards they have signed for 2013?

with overseas players you have to find them a house etc were you don't with taylor for example but i would hope his actual wage would be higher and for a longer period

| taylor is not going anywhere yet, he's contracted, it's all about the money and if he signs for another club i reckon there will be a hefty signing on fee, for a deposit for a house perhaps

It was a genuine question, and I've never been very good at being genuine I agree.
Just wondered if taylor had got wind of what they were being paid and was pizzed at his offer
