| Quote: Seventies red "I think you will find that the only times you reached 16 & 18000 at the Boulevard was when it was derby day, i can actualy remember been there on those occasions, i can also remember been at craven park one good friday in the very early eighties against Hull Fc and they let that many into the ground that they could'nt fit them all within the normal perimiters and so had to seat fans around the inner edge of the greyhound track with the outside edge been roped off.'"
Not true.
I know that when the Kiwis made their debuts against Cas in 1981 there was over 16,000 in the ground. When we beat Barrow to win the Championship in 1983 the attendance was over 17,000.

Ok, so there was maybe one or two other occasions that Hull had more than 16000, but the two occasions you refer to are exceptional examples, the original point of the dicusssion was that Hull did not get more fans at the Boulevard than what they currently get at the KC, based on an average season, please refer to Hull FCs attendance records past and present should you wish, i think you will find that my numbers stack up, so to speak.

Jake was correct - the 13k average in 1981-82 was higher than the first four years at the KC.
Clearly a modern stadium attracts new supporters. People demand decent facilities these days compared to the 1980s but the figures you quoted earlier underestimated the Hull FC support at the Boulevard at least in the early 80s. You are correct in that in SL at the Boulevard we often struggled to hit 7000 however I would point out that in 1997 in the second tier we often got over 8000.

| Hudgell has just spectacularly failed to quash the rumour. In fact the more his interview goes on, the more it sounds like The Sun is pretty close to the truth...

He's said this before though, bit of toy-throwing at the council, reminiscent of his City-owning chumster. Only heard the last bit - what exactly is his beef? The council have approved the loan for £6m and are just awaiting the additional ERDF element, aren't they? Cllr Phil Webster himself announced all this in November. What's changed?

He's filthy because he's not being gifted a stadium. Sound familiar?

Dunno, but he said caravan park isn't capable of supporting rovers financially and tough decisions need to be made for the good of the club.
Personally, I don't care. We only rent the stadium from the council, it isn't ours and it doesn't matter to me who else plays there. It would definitely see your club subsidising mine which is a good thing

If the North Stand has fallen through - which'd be shocking enough in itself - what other options does he have? Nobody can be expected to keep tipping in their cash forever. So he has to play chicken - in the first instance with the council and if that fails with a section of the fanbase. I'd hope they'd see it through to the end of the season, so a transition can be managed, if he loses twice - but beyond that nobody can say he didn't try his utmost and if people choose not to back him they have to face up to the (probably unpalatable) alternative.
Someone will blink, I reckon.

| Dont you all wish it was 2010 and youd see the grand opening of a 14,000 capacity CP
Joking aside
If i was a Rovers fan, especially a club member (excuse me if i didnt get the correct name) I'd be demanding aswers from NH very soon, and i'd be wondering if Kath and Rule were involved!

I don't believe the council have any options on this and I doubt the ERDF funders give a flying ferk about some foot stamping from an east hull ambulance chaser. The funding bodies have pulled the plug on live projects costing 1000's of jobs so doubt they'll care about backing out of a deal which primarily benefits the owners of a small sporting club on the east coast
