So in essence you're saying that if I called a white english person who happened to be a jehovahs witness a name because of his beliefs I could be prosecuted for racism. I'm a white english man whos not a jehovahs witness by the way.

Correct. Very similar to what happened with the German Jews, lived in the same country, same skin colour..yet they were had to wear yellow stars in order that they could be identified, very racist indeed would you not agree, plus the rest is sadly history in that particular instance. Rwanda is another prime example of racism with a horrifying end.
I posted the link for childline, which basically is an aid to teach children, it is clear on there. Racism can be displayed due to race (skin colour), culture or religion etc.
Now if for example you were the landlord of a pub and you declared all whites apart from white jehovas witnesses could drink in your pub, that would be classed as discrimination on the grounds of religion...rascism is a personal attack on the jehovahs witness due to their beliefs.

Why? Just because you've got a degree in this field doesn't mean everyone has the same knowledge on the matter.
I don't really remember any specific schooling on racism at all. My schooling basically centred purely around 'races' and covered that racism was the belief that one race believes they are superior to another etc and not much more really.
These days it seems just about all sorts can be considered 'racist' even if not implied - esp names/slang. It's confusing. You can get certain races using certain words freely amongst themselves but if another race uses these words then it's suddenly racist/offensive. Same works for Jewish comedians and such (Holocaust jokes etc) ok for them, but not for others. Then you can get a certain football club who positively use an offensive term to describe themselves but if a rival fan uses this to describe them, then it's racist. The problem is, the more you hear these words/terms used the more diluted the historical significance of word becomes and eventually the words become more socially acceptable over time.

Fair comment which I take on board...however if people are unsure about what exactly it is why would they argue after being shown a link which clearly describes what it is. Areas like this are now covered in schools I think this is more so since we became more multi-cultural as a nation.
Many things happen in the guise of so called humour, each to their own as to whether they actually find the humour entertaining or not.

| I may be in a minority here, but as with other players who have stuffed (MR) up, I always hope they can turn things around. Hopefully if Cockayne moves to a different town he'll get his head together. I understand KR fans who may hold opposite views to mine, but far too often fans seem to delight in lads (often not the brightest people in the world) messing up their lives when it relates to players not from their own clubs.
As well as any criminal punishment, it seems a lot of fans would be happy to see life bans handed out every time a player from another club messes up.

I doubt many fans will criticise Ben for his efforts in a Rovers shirt, he always gave 110%, but the game is in the spotlight with its profile on Sky and you can bet your last quid that we will get national publicity when stories are negative (as in drugs cases and Bens incident on CCTV) and as such players have to be a bit savvy when they are away from the club, which Ben had difficulty with. I believe the club acted correctly and I hope if he returns with anew club the fans will applaud him for his services on the field (once) and then let him get on with it, I hope we don't get the 'Charlie' chants though.
As for the second issue of players from other clubs, you are probably right that 'some' fans would wish all ills on opposition players, which is a bit silly, but most on here have been acceptable to the return of Hock and other such players carrying out indiscretions.
