| Quote: Dave K. "Let's be honest Websters job is to steady the ship, if he keeps you in SL, he has done a good job.
Main job for your club in recruitment and retention, some tough decisions are needed particularly with your overseas players, which you don't get value for money or aren't well balanced enough.'"
Agree with that. Bit of an interim season for us now.
For the path Rovers have chosen, Webster is a good choice IMO. Not the sort of role that is going to get them banging down the door from far and wide, so I'm glad he's on board.
I reckon we should be targeting 7 or 8 wins from the remaining 18 SL fixtures, with a view to securing 10th (irrespective of what happens with Salford's salary cap charge), and the extra home game in the middle 8s. Beyond that and the middle 8s themselves the focus has to be on getting the transition right for 2017. Plenty of time to plan, at least!

| Rovers statement a couple of weeks ago..."Longer term we expect to make an appointment at the end of the year - a top-line coach with proven experience, with a presence and a fine understanding of the game.
"The person that we have identified as a coach that we want to take us forward isn't in a position to take it up at this stage."....
...and now rlTHISrl happens!
One can only hope!

I would have been more disappointed with Smith, at least we know Webbo's heart will be in it, can't say I thought Smith did anything to improve Wakey in his time there.

I agree , yesterdays hero is Smith , as is Noble , had their time in the spotlight.

After what Wakefield did to him when he was a player I doubt he would ever consider returning to Belle Vue.

I fear for us if he is given our head coachs job,the guy was an oustanding failure at bradford and did no good with the england job despite us having the best squad of players for years.I hope against hope it isn't him as our coach, though it seems certain it will be.

And who's out there with a better cv than him that we could realistically get? The guy has just won a test series against the number 1 ranked team in the world! I'd love to get Wayne Bennett or Craig Bellamy but let live in the real world. McNamara ticks all the boxes for me from a realistic point of view.

Smith hasn't really had any success though, always failed at the last minute. Would suit Huddersfield.

It's ok saying the England squad was the best we have had in years yet they still ain't a patch on the top 2 yet we was a minute away from the world cup final and beat New Zealand in the test last year we regularly competed with Australia and New Zealand under Steve Mac despite the fact out squad wasn't as good as theirs

His cv is he took bradford from a team that lost in the elimination final the season he took over from noble,to being the 1st coach in bradfords history to not reach the playoffs and they were 10th each season he was there. He was also in charge for bradfords longest losing run in twenty years and signed off with a losing run of 8 or 9 successive matches, and the bradford fans praying they could get rid of him
As I said in an earlier post,he inherited the best england squad we have had for years and managed to leave the best halfback we had available, who ended up playing for scotland, danny brough out because he didnt like him.
If your impressed by his cv thats up to you,but it dosn't impress me iam afraid.

To be fair Bradford were on the wane which is proved by were they are now I wasn't keen on Steve Mac but working in Aus won't have done him any harm and realistically who are we going to get were a low end SL side at the moment

So I say again - who would you suggest we could realistically get that's better qualified? Whist I agree that he's not the best coach in the world, he is probably the best candidate that's been mentioned so far. I await your list of better candidates.......
