Bought a moped for my youngest in March for his 16th...paid £600 from a popular shop, 58 plate..He has not used it a lot as he only left school a couple of weeks ago (he never went to school on it), he just goes rugby training and his girlfriends on it..well he has been out on it only twice in the rain and on both occasions it cut out not working ..So Mr Bitch rang them friday to tell them about it cutting out twice and kick start not working when electric start fails, they said bring it in we will have a look..lad took it in today and they said it was some-thing to do with the kick start and they would sort it, lad went back after 2 hrs and they said that is £66, they never said they would charge!!! I rang up and they said it was only under warranty for 1 month, I said check the mileage he has barely used it and told him he had not mentioned a charge, he said fine I will undue the work I have done ...I told him under the Sale of Good Acts 1974 I feel he should do the work free as the moped is not satisfactory quality..he basically told me to get lost and has sent the lad home with all the work undone
Rant over!
Unless the law has changed in the 6 years since i left the motor trade, the dealerships legal responsiblilty far exceeds the 1 month warranty. (assuming the law on bikes is the same as cars.)
