| Are Kelly and Blair seriously going to be your HB's next year? Genuine question, as one's not a HB and the other whilst capable of the odd flash of brilliance goes missing a lot. I wouldn't be too worried about Kelly's past, he seemed to have matured a bit on the Gold Coast. The real worry has to be injuries, there was genuine fear his career was over a few months ago.
Blair is a Centre, a half decent one at that, especially in SL I reckon. Where's your kicking game coming from? You don't seem to have a genuine leader at all.

My opinion is, we will go with what we have got on 8th Feb.

Blair acquired himself well when playing stand off for Melbourne. I'm not worried, you shouldn't be.

Blair has other skills that should be useful - but not really much of a kicker or organiser. He is more of a spare lock forward with some good passing skills who can link with the backs.

What Gold Coast games have you been watching to come to that conclusion? I've watched every GC game Kelly has played for the last two seasons and haven't seen him really kick at all. In fact, whenever Sezer got injured they would try Beau Henry or Mortimer above others just to get a kicking game.
Are you basing your opinion on 1 year in the Mickey Mouse league while at Newcastle?

I do agree that Sezer is the dominant organiser when available who mainly kicks in general play. That's Sezer's main strength and if he wasn't going to perform that role it would be pointless to play him.
Your insinuation that Kelly has no kicking game is like saying Blake Green and Burns had no kicking games when they played alongside Dobson. When Sezer missed a couple of games at the start of this season Kelly did the majority of the kicking and wasn't too bad, particularly in the early game against the Raiders (can't remember which round)
If you've watched every game you will know that Kelly only really played alongside Sezer or Blair in the halves this year. Kelly has partnered Henry 2 or 3 times since signing (none this year) and I don't think Kelly ever played a full game with Mortimer (I think both times he came off the subs bench when coming back from injury).
Whilst I don't think Kelly's kicking game is as good as Dobson's I feel it is better than Burns and Keating's. My main concern with him is injuries and if we can get him on the pitch for most of the season he should prove to be a fantastic signing.

that I get, but signing nearly any and every half back available, just seems a little strange is all. unless one of the new half backs can play 13, possibly play one of them their with myler(if he signs) and the other new half back at 6 and 7...

3 is hardly any and every, As it stands we have no one to cover HB is injuries kick in. If Myler comes then Blair can play centre.

That's how I see it... If we are able to sign Myler, Blair replaces Craig Hall in the squad rather than Keating or Burns.

I was arguing the point made that Kelly has 'excellent' organisation skills and kicking game, which he hasn't. If he had these 'excellent' skills they'd have been utilised far more than they ever have. Sezer is hardly Jonathon Thurston in that department.
