| Not the ideal start, against a good wakey side who were a good benchmark for us and deservedly won.A dire 1st half in which we failed to complete a set of 6,better in the 2nd half but if we dont finish in the bottom 4 i ill be amazed.Nice to see matty marsh our home grown talent visible for a change with the sinbinning and the dropped pass when we had a rare overlap. When our forwards ran out other than masoe, you would not have not known whether it was the forwards or backs, still we have danny tickle to look forward to.

The problem with most SL clubs, Chairman and fans is they don't give coaches the chance to learn. There is no degree in coaching, your not born to it, its an aquired skill. Of course CC would make mistakes and go backwrds before going forward but considering he got you to Wembley (someting he's failed to do with us) he was worth sticking with.
perhaps sometimes we all need to big up and admit we got it wrong about someone. CC seems to have learned a lot, even in the last two years he seems noticeably more relaxed. To early to tell whether he's the absolute real deal but he's doing OK.'"
I broadly agree in principle. But it'd had gone beyond that point with Chester, and it'd have bordered on cruelty to keep him and rub his nose in what he'd done. He needed a fresh start and seems to have seized his second chance. Don't forget, he wasn't sacked.
Wembley was very much very much a double edged sword for him. Yes he got us there, but his focus on enjoying the occasion was (paradoxically) likely a contributory factor in it being such a miserable experience. Nobody could have anticipated the extent of Dixon's second half meltdown, in fairness.
The other frustration about Wembley is hearing from Peacock how the Leeds team got together and determined to put us to the sword. Fair enough, that was their job. But to then see him seemingly bring none of that ruthlessness to his role at Rovers was dispiriting. Fair play, he offered his resignation and maybe, like Chester, has learned lessons too. But we just can't keep being the place where people learn from their mistakes. That is why Sheens' stock is so high, IMO - he's got a tough job, but we know he's not naive.

The thing I didn't like about Chester was in interviews he always seemed to have this defeatist mentality and that must have been passed on to the players

| I know you have to try and take positives from a game lost, and it is only game 1 of a long season but, and it gives me no pleasure to say it, I'd be a bit nervous about the coming season if I was an HKR fan.
I don't think Tim Sheens credentials are in doubt, but you have to play the hand you're dealt and I'm not sure the cards are gonna fall well for him unless they can really punch well above their weight all season.
I hope I'm wrong but they need a lot of average players to be a proper tight unit and become greater than the sum of their parts.
Having a field full of stars doesn't make a winning team, if you can get a field full of average players singing from the same hymn sheet, then you've got a chance, that has to be Sheens target.

It's a Wakefield thing - he is a bit like that I agree but so is Wayne Bennett and he's done ok. But I agree his after match comments are still a bit uninspiring tbh.

This is a major part of the problem for us in that the BOD can behave like fans eg going in the sheds to give players a hairdryer treatment after a heavy defeat, signing Willie Mason and so on. Lee Radford makes a tongue in cheek comment about the “little brother” is back after we get promotion and Hudgell puts it in his twitter bio and mentions it in the pre season preview - childish. The likes of Michael Carter and Adam Pearson approach it from a more rational business side and leave the playing side to those who are paid to do it and results are speaking for themselves.

| Pearson was on his way.Losing money and Sneyd and Fonua were at that point a waste of money according to fans.Radford was hated by many and Pearson was quoted as "last chance saloon " if no success that season. At 20-0 down at HT.They were done.Radford was gone probably AP as well.Of course history shows 20-22 and that was the pivotal moment in their 2 cups and our relegation.i don't think either Radford or Chester are particularly good coaches but they have had success recently. Look at Ferguson at Man utd and Robins goal which led too years of glory.Sports a funny thing and the 12 years in lower league and then the latest relegation have set us back probably more than we realise? This isn't meant as anti FC and it wouldn't matter if it was as the cups are in the bank but we need a moment like that to kick start us as a club imo

People like a good moan though dont they. Some are only happy when things are going wrong.
The turning point for Hull, imo, was actually the game away to Wire the season before that we won with a Sneyd drop goal after the hooter. Easter 2015 I had lost patience with Radford after an inept performance against you guys. That game against Warrington just set us on the right path. It was baby steps, but the rest of the season after that game was mostly very encouraging. The game you mention was important too, but I reckon we had the quality to go have a good season whatever the result that day. We started the season looking awesome and then people started to panic again after a couple of losses. Another false dawn, Radford out etc.
Whatever the moment was though, you are right. No your squad maybe isnt top 8 standard, but its amazing what a bit of confidence and a feel good factor can do for a set of players. A big upset, a comeback, a last second win. Whatever it is you just need something to kick start the season. Its not much fun when you are losing every week and everyone is telling you you arent good enough.
It'll come. Worse squads with worse coaches have manages to be competitive in the past. No reason this bunch can't.

If you honestly believe Hull's recent success was down to a comeback win against rovers then you should be sectioned quickly

It probably didn't have anything to do with your rise and our demise that's just the focal point obviously behind the scenes Hull were building something good whereas we were in disarray if we had of won I don't think things would have been any different Pearson already said Radford wouldn't have been sacked and our chairman has stated he took his eye off the ball

It's how quickly they adapt that matters.'"
You scored all 6 of your tries off PTB's inside the 10 metre area which says to me their goal line defence isn't what it needs to be. It doesn't matter whether it's a try from a barge over or one from moving the ball quickly to the wings, it's still indicative of an inability to defend from close to your line
