| Quote: hull smallears "What is even worse, is that it will only get use next season as a stand, as Rovers will probably be bust. Larvin only has so much cash free to pump in.'"
If you truly believe we'll be bust after next season then your an idiot! You Hull fans started off by Saying the following.......
We'll Never get to a National League Grand Final, When we achieved that feat we'd never win it. Then once we'd beat Widnes we where told the Super League would not let us enter. After we'd being accepted we'd not win a game and we'd be 8 easy points a season for Hull. Well we won our very first SL game and went on so smash you at your place.
According to some of your fellow fans we've being going out of business every season and the next season would always be our last. Well the noisy neighbours are still here and I guess you just don't like it. Especially now we have a shiny new stand nearing completion.

| Quote: phil webbo "It does matter where the funding came from, there are strict criteria surrounding ERDF funding.
The council did not pick a company to manage it, former Councillor Andy Sloane (Lib-Dem) signed a 20 year deal with NPS (Norfolk Property Services) that was put together by the then Lib-Dem administration in Norfolk, the deal is for the marketing and property management including all design and build which is legally binding contract, so your infantile remarks around "jobs for the boys" is way off.
It's quite clear to me that you have no knowledge of what is actually going on and choose to believe what anyone tells you, as I said the toilets are legal but there will be queues or maybe we should have built 2600 toilets? there was an offer to remove the towers but the club want them to stay so we are exploring different ways to use them.
So who is out of their depth? The Council? for trying to help Rovers, NPS? for being a company with a water tight contract to deliver it, Hobson and Porter ? for putting in an affordable bid and rescuing the project? or maybe Rovers? for not wanting to pay rent on something they didn't expect, the truth is mistakes have been made, but from where i'm sitting Rovers will be in a lot better place than they were.
It seems to me that you would have a moan whatever the outcome!'"
I think everyone appreciates the effort that have gone in to the project Phil. I think what people have been frustrated with is some of the simple mistakes. The main grip been the colour scheme. Once It's all done I'm more then sure it will look amazing and will benefit Rovers for years to come. I'm certainly very grateful for your contribution and love how you are on hand to answer fans questions. Your open and frank and with that in mind and for getting the project into a building I can only say Thank you.

You must be wondering why you bothered in the first place.

Quote: WormInHand "Not trying to be funny. I did like the Golf stand, have many happy memories of sun, pints and large hairy bottoms in sweaty proximity to my face at least eight times a match. You could see the game, but not the south 'stand' from there, too. I much prefer old things to new.
I also think the illuminated towers could look good and if there's only three loos you are going to need a lot of blue, matching or otherwise. And a decent bog brush. And Dyno-rod on call. Can't believe Neil missed that one. Lost a bit of credibility there, I'm afraid.
No. Not funny. More indignant. As Rovers fans you should be kissing Cllr Webster's feet. Against all odds and, some would say, reason, he's engineered funding from various convoluted sources, involving the complete relocation of Hull Training and numerous legally-binding caveats and targets to be met, purely to ensure the manifestation of this stand, this being ablsolutely critical to Rovers' future in SL. Hudge's subsequent volte-face once the work was, safely, almost complete over seemingly trivial details compared to the alternative of [ino stand at all[/i is preposterous and grossly unreasonable. As are the digs and disbelief on here. You think the council(lor) has lost credibility? As a Hull tax payer, I thought that when this exraneous project achieved sign-off at all, never mind in a recession, in the first place. As Rovers fans, your gratitude should be unbounded. As it is, your churlishness diminishes you.'"
Some valid points, and I think there is a need for some balance. It was much delayed, and the appearance from outside is sub-optimal. The functionality can't yet be judged. And we will be paying for our share. On the other hand, to be even able to do that we needed the backing of the council, as well as for them to support the wider project. The implementation seems to have left plenty to be desired, but it is a bit harsh to knock the political effort behind getting it off the ground (eventually).
The council has done A LOT for professional sports clubs in the city - as have others elsewhere, but it is in principle a somewhat controversial path to have taken. And in practice they get plenty of grief even from those that benefit most, across all the clubs. Museums and art galleries and libraries have got to look an easier ride from here on, I imagine.

| Well, MR, I sincerely hope Rovers [ido [/iintend to still pay rent and the dummy spit is not a precursor for renegotiation based on the finished article not keeping muster with the plans they signed up to. The very thought is beyond the pale.

| As far as a stand is concerned the only flaw I can see is a slight lack of toilets at half time.
It's close to the pitch, well raked and will afford an excellent view, it will be the best stand in the ground.
If whoever had let it slip about the toilets had kept their gob shut then the only slight moans would have been form people having to queue a bit at half time. At the end of the day the number of toilets is within the building regulations and therefore as phil webbo says, legal.
It's also going to hopefully provide job opportunities for one of the most deprived areas in Hull, some people who haven't got jobs at the moment might get jobs and then be able to afford a season pass for the new ground.
Here's a tip: Moaning s, sling yer hooks.

Quite. Do you include Hudge in your last point, though?

| Will it keep me dry whilst I'm watching the game. If yes, then I'm happy and hope that we can continue to come and pester you for many years to come.

Well, not yet, we can't afford it!
I'd prefer it if he kept his gob shut at times and not just about this. However, it's his ball, he paid for it.

I'd make sure I was sat pretty well up towards the back, if we have rain like we had a few Easter's ago (2007?/icon_cool.gif and the wind's blowing straight off the docks then getting soaked is more than likely.

Mortgage type deal, innit?
That type of politicking is par - like Allam trying to get the freehold on the KC, or Pearson talking about re-negotiating your deal and using Bradford's deal as a comparator.
I'm not suggesting we be any more scrupulous than anybody else, just that we're aggressive only to the extent we need to be and offer political returns when appropriate. As fans of A Game of Thrones will know, sometimes you need the Hound and sometimes the Spider.
