Disagree with Thornley. Maybe skillful but appeared disinterested. Also too early to tell about Butler-Fleming (like quite a few of them).
Loved Mantree and was a good player but was lacking in speed. Don-t necessarily disagree on this one though.
Terry Campese is a 'what could have been' if he stayed fit.
The key is that this squad are playing at Championship level and have to be eager to prove they are good enough for SL next year. On that basis, enthusiasm and hard work and not just skill are high factors this season.

Iain Thornley > Jake Butler-Fleming Time will tell although Thornley didn't set the world alight
Kieron Dixon If Moss plays more than 5 games he'll have done more than KD did last year (not his fault BTW) should really be Sio > Moss
Josh Mantellato > Andrew Heffernan Most likely but again barely played in 2016
Terry Campese > Jordan Abdull I was a better HB in 2016 than TC, so JA only needs to stay fit
Albert Kelly > Jamie Ellis Agreed but hopefully Ellis wont let us down as AK did
Adam Walker > Nick Scruton Agreed
Dane Tilse < Mitch Clark Probably but it'll more likely be Tilse
John Boubebza v ??? Never played so anything is an upgrade nothing would be equal
James Green > George Milton Not lost much in Green imo, one big hit then concede a try
Kevin Larroyer v ??? Garbage and never played, the question marks win hands down
Mitch Allgood Unfair on Addy to compare with a prop, I'd more go with Addy > Larroyer. Mitch put a good stint in though, we need a replacement for him and tilse
James Webster < Tim Sheens Without a doubt
'"
I'm struggling to look at the lost players and think i wish we'd kept him, maybe Walker. Kelly would have been great but not with the attitude he had, the rest wont be overly missed, either totally unfit and never played or just average

| The big changes I expect to see are increases in enthusiasm and respect. Singing THAT song last year was ironic. We respected neither the opposition nor the ball last year. An increase in both of those along with the squad so far should get us into the mid 8s. Being successful in the mid 8s is another thing entirely which hopefully we'll start to see as the season progresses.

| The Little Respect song should of been buried after Wembley in my opinion.

| I genuinely can't believe the amount of doubt behind Abdul. The kids decided that he wants game time instead of sat playing in 23's which is above his level. Wants to improve and better him self, And is a pretty handy player. Let's just see how he gets on. Infuriates me why people become scapegoats immediately, let the kid play.
I think the changes in squad, attitude and coaching are welcome but I also think on the terraces there needs to be an attitude adjustment. Any player putting there hand up to play in this league has my upmost respect so we should do our upmost to back them and enjoy it, instead of having negative views on players after one game in which he potentially was man of the match.

| For me, some of the initial nervousness around Abdull was the prospect (received with straight-faced stoicism by some) that he'd be paired with Scott Prince. This Pike-and-Godfrey-esque potential combo alarmed me greatly.
With Ellis on board (and now Quinlan too, who can also play stand-off), Abdull looks more young and promising than inexperienced and unproven. He's still a gamble, but most signings are and we're not going to be highly reliant on him. His parent club matters very little to me. When we were rumoured to be looking at one of their props, I was a liitle disdainful of Osbourne, and cool on Matongo, but if it people had been talking about Bowden (unlikely admittedly) that'd have been better than okay.
I want Abdull to do really, really well for us - no caveats or equivocation. Right now he is Hull KR.

| There is - a hate Hull FC at all costs - mentality among some Rovers fans irrespective of benefit or situation.
To me, the dark side are just another Rugby League competitor club who present us with an opportunity. For the benefit of doubt here, the key operative words are RUGBY LEAGUE. Yes, same sport as us, same city admittedly, just flesh and blood like you and I. Over the years our DNA has directly transfused into them and vice versa. Always has and always will.
Jordan Abdull is a Hull KR player in 2017 and deserves our respect for the rationale of switching to the Red and White to gain valuable experience and hone his excellent skill set under arguably a better and more experienced coach. If he goes well as I hope he does, I for one would hope he stays. If he goes back to Hull having played his part in getting us back to SL, then it's no big deal either.
If he plays pants, then we can justifiably give him stick. In this scenario, he will be dropped and replaced by others or even a new mid term signing. When, if and until this happens, we should be giving him our unequivocal support and backing to keep on delivering good contributions to our cause. Same to Jamie Ellis, also here on loan.
