I'll see that tache and raise you an Alex Murphy's Carlos The Jackel version. Get him in now.

| Does the club come up with criteria for their ideal candidate, then search for that? Or, given that the field seems narrow just pick whoever they have a good feeling about from the list?r
I know you mightn't get all three of these, but ideally I'd like...
1. Experienced as a head coach. We haven't got loads of time for somebody to be finding their feet.
2. Knows SL. I'm thinking here of Sandercock's understandable but unhelpful astonishment that all the best players in the UK play for a small handful of clubs.
3. Force of personality. I have none and would love it to all be about technical competency and attention to detail. I really, really, really wanted Sandercock to win one for the quiet man. But it's at least as much about inspiring confidence. Someone with a bit of charisma and the self-belief to see them through the inevitable bad days.

I did consider him, but he's nfrom Lancashire, so even worse than an Aussie.

Agree with 1 and 3.
You omit 3 vital characteristics - winning mentality, passionate and professional. Given the current superiority of NRL over SL, I think our new coach should possess an ability to set higher technical standards and performance and then drive them up up to sustainably higher levels. This tips the balance for me for the newbie to be an NRL coach. Peacock as Head of Rugby would feed in knowledge of clubs and players in SL from a recruitment perspective.
Additionally NRL coaches have a half decent track record in the English game. Tony Smith, Nathan Brown and Trent Robinson among recent successes.

Surely you'll need to be winning something before he needs to be SINGING. As that won't be anytime soon Stevo may as well step back

It's between Bennett or Garry Schofield I heard.

| Some club in the UK is going to land Jason Demetriou as a coach soon and I reckon he will be a belter, although my guess is that he will take over at Wakey once Brian Smith goes.
A lot of Wakey fans have watched his progress with interest since leaving as a player. In his first coaching season, he got Keighley promoted to the Championship. He then went back to Australia and coached the Northern Pride club in the Australian Championship (for want of a better phrase). In two seasons there, he won back to back minor premierships and the Queensland Cup Grand Final. Last year, he joined the North Queensland Cowboys coaching staff as an assistant, last seen celebrating the Grand Final win in the coach's box. This year, he's an assistant at St George Illawarra and coach of their feeder team.
If anyone has earned his spurs at a lower level, it's him. He knows England and I understand still owns a house in Wakey. Someone needs to bag him, because his price will go up.
