| Thought we matched Leeds pack for the whole of the 1st half and probably went in at half time the stronger side. The second half we just didn't turn up. The left edge was shocking and Welham in particular has to be singled out for criticism for some really poor reads and jumps out the defensive line.

| Welham does what Yeaman does jumps out of the line to make the tackle which looks great when it comes off but teams just run in when it doesnt.
I would rather they didn't and just kept the straight line defence as your timing as got to be so perfect.
Read MR's warning-AS
haha amazing got deleted, so touchy when only aimed at the one person who posts rubbish on our board day in day out, really glad I don't come on here often, you lot and give it but cannot take it.

| Quote: Staffs FC "Genuine question - Sandercock has just said that KR forwards matched Leeds.
Humberside (Lloyd) said they looked ponderous.
Who is right ?'" In the first half I can say that we beat leeds up at times in the middle.
In the second half we seemed to have morphed into a powder puff pack who just seemed to get rolled over.

| I would give Whelham a week off. Our left edge looked constantly exposed in the second half.

| Very encouraging first half , thought we were a little unlucky not to turn around in front.
Leeds stepped it up second half and we never really came out of the sheds

It wasn't great in the first half as if you think about it Ben Cockayne had to 'solve' it himself by jumping the line more than once and thankfully they didn't keep going back there.
In the second half they did and it was always going to be a matter of time before the gaps appeared because when Watkins and Briscoe get that much space you are always going to pay in the end.

| Its very difficult to read much into one game, but Sandycock said on radio that David H has picked up a 6 to 8 week injury, he seemed to blame your outside backs for the defeat so this gives less room for change, TBH welham has been a turnstile for a few seasons now good attacker but defence is very poor tough run of 5 games coming up

| Very pleased from what I saw from the team in the first half even though the penalty count was creeping up.
After the first half I thought our forwards showed some real menace and intent and had they contained their enthusiasm we would have seen more of the ball and in turn some more points.
In the second half Leeds repeatedly shifted the ball to our left edge and we couldn't handle the pairing of Watkins and Briscoe.
At this point it's worth noting that Salter had the best game of his career nullifying Watkins last year and IMO should be replacing Welham at left centre next week because I think many Rovers fans are waking up to the fact that Welham is nowhere near international class - he's been schooled by Cudjoe and Watkins in successive weeks.
The main positive was Keetings first half performance with a superb try in the fifth tackle and a succession of precision kicks.
Lee Richardson said Rovers looked undercooked due to the lack of minutes during preseason but I'd rather have that than a load of injuries.
I'm still confident we'll have a good season but I do think Welham's days are numbered.

I thought Sandercock's interview was its usual bordering on bad-tempered effort post-defeat but he certainly didn't defend his own back line did he ?

| Let me attempt to straighten this out. Gwylulm Lloyd hasn't got a clue what he is talking about, we all know that. Our pack overall did well. Costigan, Weyman and Poore are not fit enough yet and were quiet. Weyman I thought was the best of the three. Langley and Larroyer were solid and played big minutes without being spectacular. Green had a good game with some good off-loads and both Walkers were good if a little rusty. I don't think Hodgson playing nearly 80 paid off. But Sandercock is correct in saying our pack matched theirs. The problem was and is that you need to offer a bit more than a strong pack. Usual errors from Eden (error gave them first try and dropped the ball later that led to another try). Welham still jumping out of line and missing (cost a further 2 tries). Keating was anonymous and created nothing which is a concern but way too early to judge - just an observation from today. Burns was playing his first match so was way off the pace but will improve. Leeds have great backs and better half backs than us any day of the week and that was the major difference. However, not panicking after that. It is going to take weeks for the team to settle and fans are going to have to be patient. In hindsight Hall should have maybe played 6 but then how does Burns get match fitness? We'll be much better 3/4 games in.

| Your pack is strong and aggressive, but has no speed or skill. Halfbacks little creatuvity and poor defence out wide, eden made a few silly errors.
As soon as leeds sorted out their discipline and improved their passing they took total control.
On the plus side though james green was outstanding, apart from peacock I though he was the best forward on the pitch.

| James Green looks an excellent forward from what I've seen. Apparently the radio had Leeds completion at 50odd % and Rovers at 60odd % at half time. Once Leeds sorted that out it seems they prevailed.

| We'll that was disappointing. I had allowed myself to get dragged along with the pre season feel good factor slightly & although didn't really expect a win, I did think we would put up more of a fight.
I thought we competed for maybe 45/50 minutes & then the wheels seemed to fall off.
I'm surprised Leeds didn't target Welham & Charlie during the first half tbh, it was always going to be our weak link.
