I'm not trying in any way to diminish anybody else - but well deserved as it is, Amy Johnson, for example, has her fame and her statue. ECM just seems like a glaring omission from our civic pride or whatever you want to call. Or maybe my ignorance was unusual.

Progress has been made in the Redhead house. I took my youngest son to the game last weekend & he loved it. I'm taking him again tomorrow, my older son has just asked if he can come along too. Just need Mr Baldhead now & I've got a full house.

Amazing isn't it, MR, but not wholly unexpected given Hull's limp-handed reputation for not shouting about itself and our Council's addiction to destroying anything of historical interest and value (see current Trinity House scandal...will they approve the Car Park???)
It's an ace name too - Ebenezer Cobb Morley. Wonderful. I discovered this about 5 years ago and was astounded that more hasn't been made about this. Hull, [ithe[/i major Rugby League city with the only true derby [iand[/i father to the creator of soccer. What a fantastic legacy we have and how little those with any influence use it. The world's most popular sport and not even a blue plaque to show for it.
Another amazing Hullensian was, of course, Don Suddaby. At least a film was made about him. rlIt took the Americans to do it thoughrl. He even played himself! |
