Quote: cod'ead "Really?

Do you seriously think they'd support Hull KR as well as Hull FC?

Remember, you'll be paying a damn sight more rent than you are currently, your ticket prices would have to increase. And you still reckon they'd rock up in droves?'"

You are obviously not understanding what i said very well are you?.
When i said we would get them from the same places you did i did'nt mean litteraly the same supporters, though i thought that was pretty obvious to be honest, i meant from the same places as in the streets and armchairs of the city.
As regards the rent, im not sure how that would work, usualy when teams share they do so to lessen the overal rental costs which are usualy shared equaly.

Their were games at the Boulevard, when we hit "official" attendances of 16K 18K (I'm sure Wilf will have the figures) but they were halcyon days with a top side, playing sparkling rugby and winning trophies. It didn't last.
We had signs that we were getting up there again for a season or 2 after cardiff, but alas, the dour years have put as back a few thousand as we know. However I believe with a team playing good rugby again and winning a lot more than we lose then we will be back at around 16K. And that is Adams goal anyway.
Heavens above when we actually start winning trophies, I think 18K + is easily achievable. Armchair supporters will come out to support a winning team. Fc stay at homes are no different to any other. Just look at our Div 2 unbeaten championship winning season, those attendance were phenominal and helped build a platform for the later years of success. Sorry I am aware this is a HKR site and I'll refrain from further posting FC data on here. Was simply building on an earlier post.

Quote: Mild Rover "It's only so burdensome on FC because they pull in well over 7,500 fans. The ground rent wouldn't be [ithat much[/i more than repayments on the new North Stand.

Some would, and they'd no doubt be vocal. Enough to kill the club? Very possibly. But staying in an [iundeveloped[/i Craven Park isn't viable long-term either - so it'd be more a case of no good options than idiocy.

I suspect, or hope at least, that the reality is different to what's on the surface.'"

Although I appreciate every opinion some fans are very blinkered towards east hull and hatred of all things west.
I live well out of town and have never lived in any part of hull. And I can tell you right now if we had to move to the kc for a hopefully limited time I have at least 20 friends who would pitch up there to watch rovers. The only reason they dont come now is the lack of choice of season ticket seats as they prefere that to standing.

I'm not quite sure what the allegation by Rovers of a "lack of support" from the council is supposed to be.
The Council have agreed a central government loan for around £6m and are underwriting the element relating to the North Stand which is around £2m in the case of Rovers defaulting on repayments.

To complete the funding package a further £2.5m is needed from ERDF which is not yet signed off but which is being processed. It's a happy coincidence (no, really icon_lol.gif ) that the optimum location for a Hull Training centre for East Hull is at Craven Park rather than a more densely populated location better served by local transport.

Chuck in the peppercorn rent courtesy of the council and you'd be extremely hard-pressed to support the view that the council aren't doing their bit and then some in all this.

Self-sufficiency can be achieved via different routes. Why not just wait until the ERDF funding is processed (seems to be when, not if), dial down the level of salary cap spend for 2013 whilst the development is built then push on at Craven Park in 2014?

I think you will find that the only times you reached 16 & 18000 at the Boulevard was when it was derby day, i can actualy remember been there on those occasions, i can also remember been at craven park one good friday in the very early eighties against Hull Fc and they let that many into the ground that they could'nt fit them all within the normal perimiters and so had to seat fans around the inner edge of the greyhound track with the outside edge been roped off.

Ah balls to it. Lets merge, call ourselves Hull Kingston FC and defeat all in superleague. With a 20 year waiting list for season tickets and sky wanting to show our every game we then are invited to join the nrl. Such is our pulling power virgin atlantic lay on 20 planes every 2 weeks to ferry 6000 rabid fans to reek havoc on the aussie public. The world club challange is binned because the only team that can beat us is ....... us!

Seventies Red is totally correct. Craven Park is towards the Eastern extremes of the city. Whether you like it or not its asking more for Rovers supporters in West Hull to travel there. The geography is self limiting. My Kids go to Hessle High and I was amazed to hear of the amount of young reds there. Ok they are outnumbered but they are there. A more central location has got to be more attractive, it will encourage supporters from other areas of the City to go and watch KR. not that I want them too, but it will happen.
Your heartland is East Hull yes, but you have support in other areas that could be nurtured. To say Pride of East Hull is itself inward looking, and perhaps a tad isolationist.
Hull FC is traditionally west Hull, But these days our support is from all quarters of the City, our heartland is west but I believe we can say we are the pride of Hull because, because our support is certainly not just from West Hull, and we benefit from that.
Support is not just for today, its for the tomorrow too. our Histories are intertwined East and West but over the last couple of generations of population shift since the 60s, FC have embraced the whole of the City. if we had looked inwards, if we for instance labelled ourselves the pride of just West Hull I think that would have been to the detriment of the club.
A move to a central location will benefit any club longer term. look at the bigger picture.

with them, as far as i can remember back in those days, it was usualy Hull getting beween 10 and 11000 on average at their peak and rovers getting around 9000 on aaverage at their peak, plus if i remember correctly Hulls crowds just prior to their departure from the old Boulevard were between 6 and 7 thousand, though im sure someone on these boards will have the exact figures at hand.'"

82/83 our average was 13000+. It was our highest average until we averaged 14000 a couple of years back

The rent you currently pay amounts to about two ballonns and a goldfish, the rent you would pay at the KC would increase substantially - (we throw around £600k per year into the pot). You'd need a heck of a lot of new supporters to cover the increased rent alone

Yeah, but given the same deal as you, we'd only be paying the same rent if we got the same crowds. Mind, Pearson isn't happy with that deal, so hopefully we can both get better. icon_wink.gif

On current crowds we'd be paying ground rent (less than £200k at the moment), plus approx 2 balloons and a pickled red herring.

To be even be able speculate meaningfully we need more than that Sun article, which says little and gets some of that wrong (re: ownership of the KC, most obviously).
