It's not his team selections that worry me so much. I can see there's a decent argument for Cook ahead of Netherton, for example, but realistically it wouldn't make a dramatic difference. Building pressure through a safety first approach with ball in hand, strong defence and good kick chase was successful but limited. Brown used it as a foundation at Hudds - we seemed content to rely almost solely on doing the basics well. And now we don't very often, so we're plop.
I think we've suffered heavily this year due to making a signing based on shirt sales rather than the need of the squad. The one thing we didn;t need was a 2nd rower yet we invested what must have been a large chunk of cap on one.
Was that Morgans fault?

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Nah, we were pretty good defensively then, and in 2007. The problem was scoring points in the second half of games.
We certainly had a lot more pride and enthusiasm to bend our backs. The area where this has really gone is our goal line defence. If a team gets in our twenty metre area now, you can pretty much guarantee they'll score.
I can fully see and understand the reasons some fans are calling for Morgan's head. For me the two coaches muted as possible replacements in Kear and Noble are not the people to take us forward. If things are like this, this time next year then yes, he should go and give someone a full build up to September so they can get on with recruitment for 2013. Instead of going for an Australian assistant, how about a young enthusiastic up and coming British coach. Someone like Keiron Purtill at Bradford.

| While JM has to take the blame for poor signings, it is also his duty to correct his errors. They've been few enough until lately, IMO, so I think he should be given the opportunity to do that. I think some changes to the balance of the squad would be a priority ahead of a change at the top, but I can see why people might hold the opposite view.
The thing is I don't think we'd get anybody dramatically better. Kear and Noble - quite like 'em both, and sometimes a change is good just to freshen things up. For now I'd stick with Morgan - if HKR don't win at least two in the Quins-WTW-Crusaders-SCR run of fixtures I'm liable to change my mind though.

All but one of our players are 'his' if we have deadwood then JM has signed them.
No other coach in SL has been at a club as long as JM so other coaches could use that excuse JM can't.

Yeah - Noble or Kear would at least be able to offer us more convincing excuses, if nothing else!

I can't believe some people actually think Noble or Kear would be a backward step. Both have outstanding records, though admittedly in differing circumstances.
Given the choice and if the situation arose, i'd take John Kear in a heartbeat.

If only he would. When it comes to holding hands up and admitting player recruitment or tactics arent right he's as blind as Wenger at Arsenal.
