| Quote: LoyalFan "I hope for your sakes that Mason calls it a day at the end of the season. He's a spent force... but his name alone must act as some kind of motivation for any young forward. Our 2 young lads who had never played at this level before looked very capable tonight, and it must be a real perk to come up against a name like Mason.
To be honest... Mason was bossed all over the park by anybody that came up against him tonight. Salford played a more expansive game... the sort we haven't seen for a good while at The Willows... perhaps because we were forced to play that way due to the shortage of forwards.
The first 10 minutes of the 2nd half... I thought you had us... we stepped up another notch tonight at that point and ran away with it.
I think you just came up against a City Reds side who wanted to play Rugby League tonight... and we played it well.'"
You obviously played very well tonight and we are certainly not playing well at all and havnt been for some time, but to say Mason is a spent force is a little naive to say the least, if you have ever played they game yourself then you would know that it usualy takes a few games to get up to speed, especialy when others have a head start as in Masons case.
I would reserve your judgement on the big man untill the end of the season, otherwise you could end up with egg on your face.

Valid points... and I accept what you are saying... I guess despite the fact that it was only his second game, I still expected him to be a little stronger that he was. I will take your points on board and reserve my judgement on him.

| Salford were outstanding tonight all credit to them.
As for Mason we got what I expected tonight. Not played for 6 months and had no pre-season it's going to take him maybe 5 or 6 weeks at least to get up to speed. He really was out on his feet and Salford certainly gave him special attention.
Last week he fed off the adreneline rush of his big debut and showed what he could do but even so you could see him gasping for air after a few minutes. I thought then that he would struggle this week and he did.
But come mid-season he will be up to speed and as we saw last week the ability is certainly still there. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Salford themselves find out the hard way when they vist Craven Park later in the season.
But for now well done Salford a real top performance tonight.

You were saying this last year and you were no less wrong then.
There wasn't a particular problem with our defensive patterns tonight, what there was a problem with was our three quarters lazy attempts at tackling and dropping off. Line speed across the park was dreadful, we let Salford pass the ball freely from side to side at will, allowing Ratchford Patten and Holdsworth bring the ball to the line at will. That's not coaching, that's our players believing there own hype and not turning up with their game face on.
Webster and Colbon were terrible tonight, but we [icompletely[/i lacked a leader. I'm a huge fan of Galea, but when we started shipping points in the second half, absolutely no one was talking to each other under the sticks. The senior players are simply not taking responsibility at the moment. Vella is a bigger miss than Dobson at this point in time.

| Big thanks to your travelling fans tonight & your appreciation to Salford. None of our fans expected a win tonight with the depleted team we put out, but in adversity the guys gave their all to pull the win out of the bag. Feared for the youngsters thrown into the team tonight in Callum Marriot & Alex Davidson, 1st team debut opposing Willie Mason, but Salford stood up to the task for the 80 minutes.
thanks again see you at Craven Park.

| Lets not take anything away from Salford, probably the best they've played for a long while, and their first try is surely a contender for try of the season. The Mason effect seemed to have worked more for Salford tonight than us. Well done Hall and Green, and Lovegroves run was the highlight of a very poor rovers performance.
PS, will someone please tell Welham he is allowed to pass, he doesn't have to try and score every time he gets the ball.

These are games when a good, young, hungry English lad wants it more than his £100,00 a year 'Aussie Superstar' team mate. They will be wearing gloves and snoods next!!'"
Good post
Look at Mike Burnett as well, deemed not good enough by Hull they he is outstanding at Quins whilst HFC are getting ripped off by the likes of Luiaki, Manu etc.
SL clubs need to wake up a bit.

Perhaps a "small" adjustment around the wasteline should suffice...

9-10 games who cares as long as we hit form when it counts.
bury my head in the sand ??? no i just have a grasp on what needs to be done but i also have faith that the people on board have the correct skills to achieve this..
as opposed to panicing and swinging the axe about because of a bit of bad form.
dont get me wrong last nights defeat was not acceptable at all,but i hardly think the players/staff will be patting each other on the backs and saying unlucky or it's not our fault do you???
we have this nearly every season with fans getting on players/coaches backs and imo its just not right after a few games into the season,
if you dont like whats going on dont go simple as that isnt it .
ive been going for the past 20 odd years and ive seen some dire stuff on and off the field but ill still be there the next week given my support for the club.
have a bit of faith

No doubting it wasn't a great performance from you last night. We played the best I've seen us for maybe 2-3 years to be honest and i include some good victories over Saints in that as well. If theres any doubting how good some of our play was last night then the 1st try of the game can bee seen on our website now. www.reds.co.uk. It's a belter!
I think as some have mentioned that it was patantly obvious that you were missing a leader out there, there seemed to be very little direction in your play. As i've said though that's the best I've seen from a Salford team in a good while and was even more satisfying considering the players missing and the kids who stepped up for their debut's.
Best of luck for the rest of the season, spoke with some very gratious KR fans after the game who were a cedit to your club - i've no doubt we'll be on the wrong end of a spanking at your place!!

| That is simply put terrible defending, the original break is superb but once Pattern got it and came inside the move should easily have been snuffed out. What Liam Watts is doing I have absolutely no idea

I'm guessing he couldn't hear the defensive call over the deafening Rovers support
