| Quote: easthullwesty "Absolutely bang on the money!!! The reason I was disappointed with Hudgells comments is because his issue is with Paea's agent. If Hull had already signed Paea, its up to them how and when they announce it. What was Gentle meant to say? All clubs will announce players as and when they feel it will help them most as regards season ticket sales, releasing fan pressure etc.
As an FC fan I was pretty shocked by Paea's agents comments. They were cutting, especially about a player that before rovers, had been a bit part NRL prop, not box office. Rovers deserved far far better than that.
As regards Hudge, what he's done for Rovers has been extraordinary, and if he went i'd miss him. He's part of what makes the rivalry between these two clubs what it is, and part of the reason I love this game. Local guy done good, putting something back. Sandercock will come good, Hull will progress, both clubs will be knocking on the door of the top four in the next couple of years.'"
I think Gentle could have said no comment instead it just looks like he lied

Saying no comment is even more ambiguous in my opinion. People will then just assume that we had signed him anyway. At least admitting we had offered him a deal meant't that supporters of both teams knew it was a possibility.

| He stands by his comments regards the Paea situation & challenged those from FC ( Gentle & Pearson ) to come clean but indicated that their silence on the matter spoke volumes.
What's it got to do with your Chairman when Hull Fc announce new players for next season, it may well be we have signed Paea but I cannot find anything in our clubs announcements that say that.

I don't think timing of the signing announcement is the issue, its more to do with Peas agent and Hulls lack of candour in the whole matter, it is a similar situation to the McDonnell one last year when his agent created a sense of deception by insisting he was destined for Australia even though he knew he wasn't and all the time talking to Hull fc with a an intent on signing for them.
Its all the smoke and mirrors stuff that gets up peoples noses, more so than the actual fact that a player like Pea is moving across the river.

| Just returned from a two week stint in Cyprus so not been able to comment until now.
I really can't see the problem certain people have with Neil Hudgell on this issue. For 5 months we had the issue with Shannon Mc stating he was returning to Australia before he'd make a decision on his future. He stated this despite everybody in Hull seemingly knowing he'd already signed a deal with Hull. Now Paea's agent has stated the same thing even with the club knowing different. Paea's agent should have done one of two things for me. He either stays quiet or he makes an honest statement. The fact that he came out and lied in his statement to the Hull Daily Mail reflects badly on Mickey when he's been nothing but a cracking player in the two years we've had the pleasure to watch him play.
He's not irreplaceable but will be sadly missed. Hull have captured a cracking player and despite been on mega money he's earned it.

| I don't think Hull can be criticised for announcing signings at a time of their own choosing. And once Mather had embarked on the path he did, with Paea (more tentatively) following it, I don't see that Gentle could sensibly have said anything very different. Honesty is generally a good thing, but too much of it in certain situations can be irresponsible. Unless Hull colluded with Mather - but that seems very unlikely, because I can't see that it served their interests well at all. That was one of the main reasons I thought Paea's going there seemed unlikely, and the statement seemed plausible.
Taylor, McDonnell and Paea were just about the first 3 to go who we wanted to keep, since we got into SL, which was a pretty good run for a club of our size, and their departures have all been a tad more sour than they should have been. I know there was rumoured to be an issue with Taylor's agent, but that's just agents for you - it was understandable that he was in no rush to sign, and we got a fee, so even in the case of Scott Taylor we kind of avoided a 'Scott Taylor situation'. McDonnell was open about putting himself in the shop window and kept it mostly vague and quiet. Competent enough player, but I hoped he'd be a necessary non-fed bridge to a brighter Louis Sheriff future, just as Hull fans hope that he's just keeping the 1 shirt warm until Shaul is ready for it.

My computer melted literally and i find pads and phones more annoying to use rlfans. My reply would be that i stated nothing inaccurate and whatever context he meant it in was irrelevant.

| Bad news for Hull KR. Hugell should be the past. He speaks before he thinks, embarrasses himself and the club with his unprofessional way of doing things. Staying only because there is no legitimate buyer.
Doesn't want to continue to invest, but now has too. Not what you want.
Poor small time business man shown again by the complete mess he has made of the Dobson signing, were you could have made a lot of money and the mishandled Pea signing.

| Well at least Hudge is right KR are not a selling club, they let the players leave for free.
Bet he wishes he had accepted the substantial offer from Salford now, mind you Dobbo will probably sign for then sometime next season anyway.

| Well played Mr Chairman, putting a loyal servant's personal interest 1st instead of pushing him to Salford for profit.
Neil Hudgell is the best thing to happen to Hull Kingston Rovers in the last 20 years. It must be hard, running a SL club as well as a successful, growing business.

All this while still finding time to upset the neighbours on a regular basis, does the man never sleep?

That's hardly time consuming when your neighbours are as touchy & paranoid as ours.

Do you really think Dobson didnt have any say in where he was going to play??
Its clearly hard running two business's. So hard that he isn't making a very good job of running one of them
