| Quote: Neil HFC "Good point that, it also goes someway to explaining Rules comment about "half the squad could be taking it", its quite possible they were totally legally. The overreaction and stirring by some sections of the media, and some fans has been asounding.
Thats not to say its not vastly embarasing for Hull and the game, (the "cover up" moreso than the incompentence/stupidity of Rule/Cooper/Gleeson), but from reading some reaction you'd think half the squad were serial steroid abusers.'"
To be fair I think the reaction on here has been pretty mild, there hasn;t really been the lynch mob mentality out to ban FC that I would have expected. More are in agreement that the RFL are more culpable then the club. I'm actually surprised by a fair bit of the reaction on B&W about wanting Hetherington and Agar keel hauled.
I'm more exasperated by the size and vigour used by the Daily Mail, a paper that doesn't know we exist until something bad happens, going on their past performances I can see a link between FC and the death of Diana beng dragged up soon.

Only the silver it turns out. In a reversal of the logic that saw Ben Johnson stripped of his title in Seoul, you belatedly claim the gold.*

That's sooo 2011. They may as well close the book for 2012!

Red Bull is a caffine hit & depending on the ammount of caffine in your blood stream could find you disqualified in athletics (caffine helps break up lactic acid that builds up with exorcise) I dont know if that applies to all sports.
Another thing that I have seen today in the press is Hudgell quoted as saying it is a disgrace? as a rovers fan I wish he would keep his mouth shut on things that have no bearing on our club as it only looks petty & stirs up people, best to let it be.

Agree, aside from point scoring and calling your club.
Can you imagine him going to the RFL, driven by someone in a fish wagon "Mr RFL can you look at FC they are all naughty"
Mr RFL responds "well Neil, hows that golf stand? is it true you cant host an SL game?"

Doesn't the fact that an R.F.L. employee emailed UKAD on June 4th to ask for Gleeson's suspension be lifted so he could against Hull KR the following day have a bearing on Hudgell's club?

I just think it looks more dignified to say nothing keep quiet then when we need to say somthing important to our club people take more notice. It did not impact on our club & in my opinion we would look a lot better if we had kept out of it.

Well said.
There's been an enquiry. The bans have been issued. Everything else just seems like gossip at the moment, and until there is substantiated evidence, to throw an opinion out their like "it's a disgrace" is only going make people think what you have said (petty and Edit-AS stirring).
The only thing that is a disgrace is the misleading media reports that are comparing what was taken to something like steroids when, like you say, is more just a caffeine-like hit that, had it been taken a few hours earlier, would have been fine. For sections of the media to call Gleeson a "drugs cheat" is completely uncalled for and is intended for the reader to take completely out of context for the sake of sensationalism. "Drugs screw-up" would have been more accurate. "The whole team were taking it" also is another attempt at sensationalism if it is true you can take it up to 12 hours before competition. If they are, then they could very well be doing it legally.

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Where is this "disgrace" report/quote? Can't say I've heard or seen it tbh.
Read a report on the bbc site which read more like Hudge trying to stir trouble towards the old regime @ Hull. Given his/their reported disagreements in the past can't say I blame him, but perhaps letting old bygones be bygones - would be a better option.

Yesterday's Hull Daily Mailhttps://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/HULL-FC-held-Gleeson-case-say-RFL/story-14436593-detail/story.htmlrl
Quote: ☺East-Sard☺ "However, his Rovers counterpart Neil Hudgell labelled the whole saga a 'disgrace'.
"I was told near the time that FC had sought guidance on whether to play the derby, which I just laughed off as a joke. It's a complete disgrace if true," Hudgell told the Mail.
"This matter is dragging rugby league through the gutter and there should be a full and independent inquiry into exactly who knew what at the club, particularly the senior management at the time."
Former FC chairperson Kath Hetherington recently defended Rule's role, telling the Mail she had 'serious misgivings' over his two- year ban for 'tampering'. He was accused by Gleeson, and FC's former conditioner Ben Cooper, of encouraging them to give false evidence.
But Hudgell believes Hetherington too should now face questions.
"It's a disgrace really, especially for the then chairperson to come out and blame the others.'"
