| Song 1 (The Ferrets)
To the tune of "My Old Man's A Dustman".
The Rugby League World Cup is here, Its time to make some noise,
Put your Country's shirt on, and cheer the local boys,
Let's be loud and make them proud to wear the National shirt,
And hopefully we'll spur them on to dig into the dirt.
--Chorus--
There are no rucks there are no mauls, the scrums don't have a push,
And because it's played in Summertime, the surface is so lush,
You don't get pulled for feeding and the forwards don't get fatigue,
The game is much more faster, The game of Rugby League.
--MUSICAL INTERLUDE--
There are some boys down under, they think they are the best,
They whine and moan at referees and usually win the test,
But now the tide is turning, their squad is getting old,
Take for instance Darren Lockyear, his head is going Bald.
The English have been burdened, In charge is Stevie Mac,
If we lose, we sing the blues and hope he gets the sack,
His team selections' baffling, He picks anyone he can,
It doesn't matter if your Kiwi, You'll still be in his masterplan.
--Chorus--
Then we have the All Blacks, who start off with a song,
Sang with gurning faces, their tongues are very long,
They wear all black and prance about, all big and proud and buff,
The Ockers have a hate for them, because they play too rough.
Wales are rarely favourites and the sheep are left behind,
They're pretty crap at tackling, and barely find the line,
But that don't stop them trying, they play until the end,
The RFL's tried everything but this one will not mend.
--Chorus--
That's about all that we have, we'll see you in 2 years,
We'll sing this song, all full of hope, but still end up in tears,
The Aussie's probably won again, with their dirty old man team,
We all wait, and hope and pray for the day we reign supreme.

| Song 2 (The Stoats)
"The song must be sung to the tune of "Bridge Over Troubled Water".
You must imagine it being sung by an opera singer, such as that Katherine Jenkins one with her chest at full expansion.
It must also be served up with the following accompaniments
....and we've put a link to the music so you can imagine it a bit better - you just have to ignore the other words and imagine ours instead -Naughty YouTube link - although we've only done 2 verses, not like the original 3 - we thought it had gone on quite enough.
Be you lifted.
Be you raised.
Clear thoughts from in your mind.
Leave your heart ablaze.
He’s on your side
When all is gone.
Throw off your false fatigue,
Cast your reach to the farthest corners,
Feel the arc of league.
Bend your back for your nearest brothers,
Feel the arc of league.
Dragon slayers,
Dreamtime’s sight,
When war is song, not dance.
Coalesce to fight.
You rise as one.
Enlightenment
Of the world, you will wreak.
Cast your reach to the farthest corners
Feel the arc of league
Bend your back for your nearest brothers
Feel the arc of league
"

| Nothing from the Weasels as yet. I'm off to Nandos for lunch in a bit, so just post it here. I'm going to PM the judges now, so sooner the better, really.

| A message from the Stoats...
[iHi, MR, it's a bit imperative that we have the pictures of the dessert (fruit and nuts, you see), and the cream crackers so the judges are aware of the cheese.
Otherwise they may think we're a bit sanctimonious and hate us. Please can you try again or insert your own similar pictures?
Would be greatly appreciated, ta muchly xx[/i
Sorry, CBA - there are spicey chicken wings I need to be eating. Hope this is okay. x

| Song 2 so far for me.
A great song to which they have added great lyrics that just made me smile and made me think back to my playing days.

| The Weasel's Entry
Quote: Some Might Say "Some might say that Union is the greatest
Go and tell it to the man who cannot pass
Some might say that league will never prosper
Go tell them "Stick your drop-goals up your ass"
Some might say why not keep the ball in play?
Some might say let the lads go out and play
Cos I've been watching the 4 Nations
Flattened by the Aussies in the rain
We made no preparation and faded when it mattered once again
Our scrum half is a Kiwi
"It's the ref's fault" whinges Macca in vain
It was built up by the press but it's all such a mess my friend
Some might say this year we’ll beat the Aussies
Go and tell it to that McNamara bloke
Some might say Tomkins is an great dude*
But his code crossing brother is the joke
Some might say we will go for the powerplay
Some might say we will go for the powerplay
Cos I've been watching the 4 Nations
As we lost to the Aussies in the rain
We made no preparation and faded when it mattered once again
Our scrum half is a Kiwi
But Macca’s got Lockyer on the brain
And the team’s been shafted
Shafted by the convicts once again
Some might say (some might say)
Some might say (Some might say)
you know what some might say (you know what some might say)
you know what some might say (you know what some might say)
you know what some might say (you know what some might say)
you know what some might say (you know what some might say)
you know what some might say (you know what some might say)
you know what some might say (you know what some might say)
you know what some might say'"
* The lyric here was ballsed up by the swear filter!

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

| I thought we were writing songs for the Rugby League World Cup, not the Four Nations as songs one and three seem to be about?

Don't worry about it, you missed the one hundred and twenty hour dead line anyway.

I did write this on Friday
I'm still waiting for an answer, so there will be a scabbycat style dummy spit if I'm barred from submitting!
Anyway, I should get more time, to compensate for a complete lack of input from my team (MrsB excepted).

| I'll go with song 2, it's the most fitting for a World Cup anthem.
