I would be happy if he came on board

Yes, why not!
I think his son will be the front man.

| Reet - likely outcomes of 'crunch talks'. Not like they won't have chatted about it informally, of course.
Can't see the Allam's riding in to save the day - they've surely got plenty on their plate with Hull City.
On the other hand, I doubt we're on the verge of going pop, though as long as you're dependent on benefactors, by definition your fortunes depend on their's.
SL has two structurally big clubs - Wigan and Leeds. With Eamon 'To Big to Fail' McManus (I'm still in a grump about lie-censing) Saints have bridged the gap. After that, it's possible to get there, but it needs big investment year after year. We can hope for that, but while we're waiting let's preserve and enjoy the progress that has been made.
Unless they're planning emergency swingeing cuts to the squad, as it stands the team for next year looks pretty good. Bit thin on experience perhaps, but hardly cutting to the bone.
It'll be interesting to see their plans. Since the huge success of get up-stay up-consolidate-compete, they've had a bit of the 'difficult second album syndrome'. They tried to go big with the Mason signing, but with the benefit of hindsight, I now want to see a more gradualist approach. Or Allam on a massive spending spree - either is good.

I reckon that one

| Hate to say this but I agree with the Barista, I think this is just a set em up prelude to an announcement that may be unpopular (or popular depending on your stand point).
It'll either be a big pass price hike, an Allam on white charger or no further signings.
I find it difficult to believe that a club that only a week or 2 ago announced the sponsorship of the new stand to this week need crunch talks about going pop (slightly dramatic paraphrasing I know). Watch this space.

| The [most unlikely] outcome of the crunch-talks. That’s £350,000 in the coffers Rob, and we have saved our pockets another £350,000 on the salary cap. We are making progress at last.
MS - . . .how do you spell kerrrching?
NH (deep sigh) – Next on the agenda, AOB. and for the sake of Mike its A.....O.....B.
MS – Yes, Boss. What about the North Stand, season tickets, shirt promotions, Allam’s loan, the academy, the South stand, the east stand terracing, and the price of a pint!
RC – Crickey! By the time you’ve typed all that Mike you’ll need a pint! Meeting closed.

| Having read the article I'm not reading it as all doom and gloom. Maybe a statement of reality from the incumbents who are trying to make the books balance, especially in light of not achieving the same on field performance as earlier years. Recurring financial losses are not sustainable for many, unless you are of an Abramovich inkling.
I've every confidence this will work out well in the end for you all. You'll be back next year. With the new stand it will hopefully boost gate revenue as well.
Best of luck and I'm sure it'll work out in the end.

| Allam revealed his hand during the KC debacle. The council called his bluff.
Prior to this, he had talked about the two RL clubs in one City and surely they should merge to become stronger.
The council don't trust him and although I don't know him from Sadam, I wouldn't say I'd like him at Rovers.
If he was to take a leading role @ Rovers, what he would gain is unclear (apart from a spanking new squash facility in east Hull). Like AP, ultimately he is a business man with no real background of RL. Having these two in charge of both RL clubs in Hull, certainly opens the doors to the ever continuing conspiracy theories, esp against the back drop of his KC aspirations.

| Not read through all of this but
Could this be Rovers way of waiting to see what happens with Bradford? If Bradford get reinstated into SL, Rovers then go into liquidation before being taken over by a "Newco" and losing all their debts and then siting the Bradford situation as setting a precedence they get readmitted to the SL debt free. Be daft to sell passes etc if they were going to go down this route as it would be money lost.
I know it is a cynical view but if Bradford are admitted back into the top tier I don't see what the downsides are for clubs with debts to go down the same route.
Just playing a bit of devils advocate

| I hope it is just a bit of posturing before a more positive announcement. I really enjoy the derby matches and the rivalry in general and too many of my mates/family love Rovers.
I would hate anything [itoo[/i bad to happen to you lot.
There i said it *goes to get showered*

Personally I can't see the Allams riding to our rescue, what's in it for them? There's no money to make in rugby so what would they get out of it? It's not like there fans is it.

| I think the game needs shaking up from the top down, otherwise a lot of clubs could find themselves in bother - and how long will Sky hang around with the game in turmoil?
