How quickly some fans forget really good away wins against Toronto and Leeds and focus on a patchy performance against Halifax when the game was won inside the first 20 mins

That year, and maybe the 2015 cup final did create a profound sense of pessimism. For me at least.

2017, and the way our team is organised and plays under Sheens have gone a long way to remedying that. If we do stay up, I think I will look forward to 2019 with optimism and hope. They may turn out to be unjustified, but at least they’ll be there initially. 2016 was dismay all the way, and through 2017 and 2018 there’s been that fear factor that one slip at the wrong moment and all the repair work could be for nothing.

Still, it’s maybe worth counting our blessings sometimes too.

The win was all that matters but was far from convincing.We look a tired side and the injuries are mounting up but we are finding a way to win games we would have lost in the past. Still not sure what points guarantee top3? Just hope London and Toulose fight out 4 and 5th instead of the cheating so and so's faux Canadian experiment .But that's another win chalked up and happy as a fan

We will quite probably need to win both of our remaining fixtures to avoid the MPG. The 10 point safety figure isn't as clear cut this year.

I can’t see Toronto beating Widnes and Leeds

I reckon they’ll be favourites vs Widnes. If Leeds win by a decent score against Fax next week, they’ll be effectively, if possibly not mathematically safe. Would they then come out all guns blazing versus Toronto in the final game?

I suppose if Toronto beat Widnes, the Vikings will likely have nothing to play for against us - but equally nothing to lose.

The top 4 all have games against the bottom 4 next week. This could be the year that proves the point that 5 wins can still leave you in the MPG. More hopefully, if we beat Toulouse and Widnes do us a favour in Canada, if we’re home and hosed. Every minute matters!
