| I agree with most of the posts on Larroyer he definitely did not regain his form after injury, my only defence that I could offer for him is that he has been another victim of very poor coaching for he has never played his true game, for me, having watched him play for France when we first signed him he was a wide running second rower, playing on the edge of the ruck similar lines that Clint Newton used take.
But as soon as Chester got in charge what did he do with him having play more like a prop close in just taking the ball up, then Webster took over and he had about as much idea as the man in the moon, which disappointed me as I thought it was a good choice, but once again he took a team to the million pound game.
I think Laroyer may well have bloomed under Sheens but then that's another wait and see.

| Quote: Pickering Red "I see that Larroyer has been attacking the club in the press for an alleged and perceived dishonesty towards him.
Unfortunately for him, he has become a casualty of the relegation scenario. I truly feel for him and his family in this regard.
That said I really think his form in the last 2 seasons has gone downhill and wouldn't warrant selection now for Newcastle out on dual reg, so I was mortified when we offered him a 2 year contract extension. I think he has reaped what he sowed in terms of current employment. He's been beyond cackamalla the last 2 seasons and he's been treated the same. If he is as good as he thinks he is, he should be snapped up elsewhere no problem.
There are a couple more retained players that should be joining him and looking for alternative employment too imo.
Anybody agree or disagree?'"
Tbf, I think his complaint is not that he got less than he deserved, but that he was messed about.
I sympathise with his situation, but in the club's current position, it was the right call.

If Rugby League Rocks, then Hull KR is its Soul.: |
|
| I think his problem is that as a snail gobbler and despite his 3 years over here his English is still far from perfect. He has used the word dishonest but I would have used the word disingenuous. Nobody from the club has had the spunk to tell him during the regular last season that he was cods and wouldn't likely be retained. Expect Webster as the interim coach thought it would be the responsibility of JP and the new coach to make that call.
Along came relegation and the opportunity to realign by ridding ourselves of some contractual deadwood and Larroyer is now rightly toast, based on 2 seasons of sub par performances and contributions.
RL in the UK is not in a good place right now for a variety of reasons and this is a minor footnote in the overall recent history.

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

| I knew Super Kev wasn't getting a contract around about July, and I know nowt about anything to do with the inner workings of the club so he must be a right wassock to be so in the dark.
I like eating snails though, and steak tartare, but only whilst in the company of vegetarian or vegan friends.

| Ultimately the right call from Rovers not to retain as he's crap, but it does sound like Larroyer knew that relegation meant his remaining 2 year contact was null & void and sought assurances from the club as to his future, which according to him was given:
"I was asking people at the club whether I still had a future there. I was told I definitely did, so wasn't worried. I then had a later meeting and was told there was no space for me. I feel like, at some stage, they haven't been really honest with me."
There's always two sides to every story, but doesn't look great, especially after the bleating Hudgell did about loyalty when Adam Walker left. Loyalty only works one way of course.

| Never seemed to recover from his ankle injury at castleford, and if he didnt think he was going to be released he must be very naive.

From the HDM quotes, it sounds like he was proactive in speaking to Rovers about his contract issue, which I don't think points to him being naïve or taking anything for granted.
Maybe he was naïve to have believed them in saying he had a future there?
Regardless of how crap he is and whether it was the right decision to let him go, it sounds like he deserved better from his employer.

As I've been partly paying his wages for the last two seasons I think I deserved better from him

You've probably contributed £5 to his annual salary, well done.
His performances aren't really relevant are they, in terms of how a player should be treated (assuming what he says is how it happened, and he's been messed about). His performances let us understand the reason Rovers didn't retain him, which was the right call, but not the way they apparently went about it.
He obviously trusted that he did have a future there and a new (and less £) contract would be on it's way, therefore he didn't plan to be effectively out of work. You could look at it one way and say he was naïve with that trust and not to plan for worst case, or that he's been messed about and it's left him in a pretty stressful position.

TBH you've heard 1 side of the story. He's not really going to turn round and say, 'I was too naive and its now landed me in the brown stuff' is he? You are summarizing based on evidence in an article which in itself is probably an exaggeration of what he said. Its about as reliable as someone on here saying they heard from a reliable source.
For what its worth, supporters knew months ago he wasn't going to be here in 2017 and that was before the mpg. Am I bothered he's leaving? Not really but i am disappointed he didn't live up to the expectations he set for the fans in his first season with us.

I said the same thing in my first post, and haven't worded anything to suggest otherwise.
If it was completely his own fault as you suggest, why would he say anything to the HDM at all?

| I understand the 1 side of the story however, this doesn't look good for a club that will already be at a disadvantage for 2018 recruitment.
If supporters really knew he was going and therefore the club had made up their mind why wasn't he released straight after the MPG and given an opportunity to find another club when budgets were still available?
From outside this looks like a poor treatment of a loyal player

Seriously though, he said himself he hadn't even discussed any figures with us. It shows you how far his contract negotiations went.
The MPG was 01/10/16, our first signing wasn't announced until the week after, so there is a month gap between then and him being announced as released on the 10/11/16 (he likely knew before then)
He likely had a troubling month, when it dawned on him that he wasn't getting offered a deal. But I find it unlikely that he would have been taking out mortgages and buying new cars etc on the premise that someone may or may not have said "don't worry Kevin, contract's in the post".

Tbf, knowing how papers work, he might have been asked leading questions. Equally, he might be fed up and we might have been hedging our bets while, for example, Greenwood made up his mind.
After the some of naivety of recent times, the cost-benefit of being ruthless on this occasion is reassuring, for all that I feel for Monsieur Larroyer.
Any reputational damage will be offset if we start winning games again, and will not be among our more pressing concerns if we don't. The binning off of poor injured Shannon McDonnell doesn't keep Hull fans awake, as they snuggle up at night in their Jamie Shaul pyjamas, I'm sure. It's callous game - which is why I don't blame Adam Walker, based on what's in the public domain.
