RIP Roger, a true 'great' of the game and a real gentleman off the pitch, I was fortunate to watch him play from day one as a Rovers player and saw the greatest player our club ever had as well as one of the greatest the world ever had.

Greatest player I had the pleasure to watch,a true rovers legend and a gentleman.A huge loss to our club and our sport.R.I.P.

Sad news indeed. His record speaks for itself, and from the interviews I saw he seemed a really nice guy as well.

RIP roger and has you said he was a nice guy I remember been in a bar in Newcastle in oz and both him and Len Casey came and stood and talked to me and the wife back in 1992 for the great Britain tour

One of the greatest ever players in RL history and a supreme talent. Even now almost 50 years after the event, I can assure you it is still a source of great annoyance that we (Castleford) let this lad go, particularly as at the time it broke his heart as all he ever wanted to do was play for his own town club. He was already an international. It still remains and will do forever our greatest ever loss. However he found a new home at HKR, where he quite rightly was an absolute hero and legend.

RIP supremely talented Roger, you will be sorely missed.

Extremely sad news for everyone connected with this club.
I consider myself fortuntate as a young boy to have witnessed first hand the terrific skills of a remarkable player,(Roger the dodger) he was also a gentleman of the pitch.
The word legend is sometimes used a little casually these days but this man really was a true legend of the game, we're unlikely to see his like again, at least not in most of our lifetimes anyway.
R.I.P Roger, you will be sorely missed.

Very sad day RIP Roger

I remember seeing him as a 16 year old playing junior rugby on TV
He was a star then but looked much too small to make it in what was a brutal professional game. Well he proved me and many others wrong. He wasn't a star, he was a superstar. As a Warrington supporter sometimes it hard to appreciate the skills of an opponent, but in Rogers case that wasn't a problem at all. Thanks for the memories Roger.

Am truly gutted. He was the main reason I started watching Hull Kingston Rovers in the '70's, to me and am sure to many others he was Hull Kingston Rovers! He played and was at the helm for undoubtedly our greatest period, we won every trophy there was to win, some more than once. God bless Roger and my deepest sympathy to all his family x

Isn't 3rd May also the date of your Wembley triumph when Roger captained the side?
