| Everything will be fine once you get campo and lunt back
Joking apart, you're suffering from a lack of investment in your youth structres since you came into SL. Now you've piggy backed onto our excellent youth structure it will all come good. It's what the mysterious 5 year plan is.
Y1 - convince pearson to give us a massive leg up by giving us access to his youth development set up
Y2 - sign some over the hill aussies, championship players and leeds cast offs - do well in the middle 8's
Y3- sign some over the hill aussies, championship players and leeds cast offs - do well in the middle 8's
Y4 - sign some over the hill aussies, championship players and leeds cast offs - do well in the middle 8's
Y5- Pray that some of the kids coming through actually want tot sign for us and not Hull
Joking apart, whilst Hull's overseas recruitment has been good in the off season (excellent even), I bet they're not paying more for their overseas players than rovers are. Where Hull are benefiting is having young local lads in the mix who probably cost less than market value. It's the same model which has seen leeds, wigan and saints be successful in recent years. You just can't spend your way to success as the good doctor is finding out at salford.
Anyway, you're probably a point ahead of where you expected to be at this stage and a relatively easy 2 points to come next week then a game against a saints side who look out of form and will be backing up from the WCC. You could be 5 points from 8 in a couple of weeks

| Surely Mcnamara will have benefitted from his time at the Roosters in the NRL and in charge of England. Must know good defensive structures than the ones we are deploying at the mo.

Surely you could have only dreamed of picking up an ex international coach with experience in SL and the NRL? mcnamara fits the bill to a tee for you

| Grossly imbalanced squad. Too many players who do the same thing and no quality in the forwards. Two over seas spots on the wing! The're two great wingers but for 2 quota spots. Maybe one winger on the quota. The rest have to have more influence on a game.
Too many panic buys ( Tilse being the most obvious and Lunt for 4 years) and terrible re signings (Horne and the bigot when Welham was let go).
Chester comes over as a decent bloke and I don't wish anyone to be sacked but he speaks and behaves like an amateur coach. He appears out of his depth. Whoever comes after him has a massive job on their hands.
Last week's bizarre game in a blizzard didn't convince me. We could beat Wakefield and saints but that would say more about them at this time than us.
Unless Campese stays fit for the season we are bottom 3.

Macnamara has done nothing as a coach, we have had plenty of those thank you. What we need is somebody who has been there and done it.

| As we lack size we need line speed & aggression. We have neither. Plus we seem to have abandoned marker defence completely.
6 tries to 2 is no worse than I expected. Just sums up where we are at the moment.
Don't judge Steve Mac by what happened at the Bulls. Never had a chance.

I don't think we lack size, not in the front row, but we do lack line speed and I agree with you all that our marker defense does is give away penalties. If we need a lesson on what a well coached marker defense does we only have to watch the Wembley video, Leeds were awesome.

In fairness you don't have many coaches that have a 'decent' track record when getting a new job.
Wigan - Wane - First HC Job
St Helens - Cunningham - First HC Job
Hull FC - Radford - First HC Job
Huddersfield - Anderson - First HC Job
Catalans - Frayssinous - First HC Job
Widnes - Betts - First HC Job
Salford - Watson - First HC Job
Leeds - McDermott - Made the play-offs for Harlequins.

Disagree with this. His record in charge of our national side recently has been OK and he has left that job on a high. We were a Kevin Sinfield brain fart and just 37 seconds away from a World Cup final last time out and we beat the same opposition in the last test series. He was sounding more purposeful, mature and professional during his recent interviews too.
However, when one of the NRL's best ever coaches comes knocking to declare his interest, the RFL would have been daft to spurn that opportunity.
Mcnamara for Rovers if available

Personally I would like to see Kear because he has had an immediate impact wherever he has gone, failing that Goef Toovey is available.

The model that has seen Leeds, Wigan and Saints be successful is in having more money to spend across the board than anybody else. Youth is only part of that. You can spend your way to success, the failure of koucash to do so yet does not show it to be impossible. Moran has done okay at Warrington, after a couple of false starts. Our own short-termism yielded relative success in 2009 and 2010. Pearson has said he is paying more than ever on player wages this year, and has cashed in on Lineham and Westerman to invest in experienced Polynesians. The invest in youth line - well there's some truth in it, but on the keys to success list, realistically it is down at about number 5 or 6. It doesn't help that we've not produced much talent, but it hasn't been our most problematic issue.
There's a gap between what people want to be true (you can't buy success, investing in youth is key, there's loads of talent in the championship) and what is true (you can, it isn't and there's a good deal more in Polynesia). The important thing is we know which is which and plan accordingly.
