Would this be the same decent set of players who finished 7th that season ? Then after that the main success was built around the likes of Horne, Yeaman, King and Cooke all from Hull's Academy.

You've made the play offs, whilst its progress its nothing to get carried away with. You don't see Cas fans proclaiming World dominance because they made the play offs this season. The constant fact Rovers are referring to were they were a few years ago has all the ingrediants of a club who are just happy to be there rather then to compete.

Brilliant season. Our 3rd in SL and we finish top 4. Well proud of the lads. Disappointed about tonight, on another day we could've got the result. JM was right - aim as high as you can and keep progressing.
I'm glad the hull fans are having such a good night, shows exactly how far we've come.

Could never understand that argument GML.
Just because you clearly werent good enought to be in Super League for all those years suddenly gives you an excuse for not getting to major finals etc over the last couple of years!
Who's fault is it that you could not reach Super League til 2007? Dont think its ours. |

Making the play-offs isn't some sort of unbelievable achievement. You do know that the only team in SL that's not made the play-offs is Celtic, don't you?  |

There are degrees of success though. Only winning something is truly worthy of celebrating, IMHO. You can take consolation, even satisfaction in other things, but not celebrate.
Hull's 2005 challenge cup win was an achievement worth celebrating, and I am very envious of it.
Their 2006 grand final appearance was something that squad and the club should have taken a great deal of satisfaction in and I am slightly envious.
The 2008 CC appearance was a consolation for a disappointing season.
We aren't celebrating, we're looking on the bright side and putting a season that outstripped most expectations into perspective. But I know you've waited a while, so on you go.

Just saying its been an excellent season and our progress has been great.
I've been a season pass holder at Rovers since 1989 and I'm immensely proud of where my club is now - there was a long time when I thought I'd never witness what I have in the last 3 or 4 years, so your snide comments make no difference, I've never been happier as Rovers fan.
