| Clint Newton going due to the fact he wont get an easy ride under the new coach! Plus he wont be able to swag about the place like he is mr Hull kr and holding the half time team talks will no longer be in his list of jobs to do

I'm sure he'll get an easy ride at Penrith!
Players of Clints quality sometimes have an major ego with them, to be fair to him he earned the right to have that swagger about him in his first three years with the club. He's been outstanding for us during his time here. Things have maybe gone awry over the last few months but I'm certain had he stayed he'd have been back to his best next year.
I get the feeling that some rovers fans would be happy to have retained Mariano and Cook and lost the likes of Clint.
I just hope whomever comes in place fo Clint plays as well as Clint and has that swagger about him.

Agreed, those that claim Clint was a flat track bully should now be happy.
A big miss for rovers but a miss we will get over.

It almost certainly will only be a minority who will see it that way, the vast majority will be very sad to see him go imo, me included.
Clint has been a fantastic player for the club and if you have followed the game long enough and even played yourself then you would know that you often find that some, though not all special players with ability often have that swagger about them, its what sets them appart from the mundane rest.

Clint is an excellent player on his day no question and one of the best imports , playing wise , we have had since our return to SL but certainly as far as this season goes the above statement is completely untrue..
In fact if Clint and JM had reigned their egos and self interest in sometime ago perhaps we might be a lot further ahead and they would both be still with us..
He has been well worth his presence for his professionalism with regards the playing of the game and the guidance he has passed to the likes of Taylor and Cox but he could do worse than look at Ben Galea for the meaning of "total" professional and clubman..

33 in April - worth a one-year deal as a stop-gap maybe, but would he relocate for that?
Scott Moore is rumoured to be leaving Saints for Salford - he'd have been a good addition. OTOH, there's no point making discipline a big theme of your new coaching appointment and then lumbering him with players who take the pee.
Much as I think getting a good British hooker would be excellent, good takes priority over British if it comes down to a choice. Withers is probably the best option, unless Clinton's quota and non-fed spot were freed up. Even then, we're not going to sign Cameron Smith.

| With the loss of Newton(which is a major one)I would love to see Taylor and Cox starting in our backrow with Galea at LF giving them direction, some will say maybe its to early for Cox to hold down a regular place but throw him in at the deep end for me!!!

Only the complete tools would think this. Newton was by far our most impressive signing at the time (including Vella), to capture a player of his calibre at the age he came at was an awesome piece of business for the club. I rate Newton in the top 10 players that have played for this club (I'm in my 50's). If someone had told Rovers fans in 2005 that by 2011 we would be thanking the likes of Netwon, Vella, Briscoe for their service and had already said farewell to Willie Mason, I would have called for the straight jackets.
For whatever reason Newton is leaving, I think he has been superb for us and I will always believe we have been lucky to have such players here. Good luck to him at Penrith.

Not in the 2nd row. Spend the Newton money on a good, experienced player with similar skills to Newton.

Newton was exempt from the quotas so, like Fisher and Vella, has to be replaced with a Brit or other exempted player (like O'Hara or Withers, if he joins too).
I'm not sure who we could get. And I'm really hoping that Taylor, Watts, Cox and J. Hodgson kick on and provide the basis of a youthful, dynamic, energetic pack. Galea will provide plenty of experience next year. O'Hara and probably Withers too, beyond that. And I'm excited about Paea, if that is confirmed.
There's nobody on the OOC list who would offer what Newton has, unfortunately.

Newton was not OOC, why not approach a club about a contracted player like Penrith did.
