| The kid was hardly in a fit state to contribute to the game at the time, non story really.

| Surely the competency of the 4th official needs to come into play soon on this. It has happened twice now this season, and a player cannot enter the field of play until he gives them the thumbs up to do so

True, but the rule, or at least the convention, is that you can't bring on sub until the player he's replacing comes off, even if he's down injured in backplay. By getting a player on more quickly you gain a small advantage relative to a team that waits in the same circumstance - and if you don't discourage it, the convention will quickly change. Which wouldn't be the end of the world, but the current method is simpler.
As you say, the thing itself seems like a bit of a non-story. My point really is more about how much store Hull fans think we're likely place in what Hull FC's propagandist says.

It needs to be clearer whose responsibility it is. I actually think it should be on the 4th official. But then there's room for claims of misinterpretation - so maybe it should be shared, I dunno.

why make things complicated? The 4th official should not let a player on until one has left the field of play. No ifs or buts.

So shows more incompetence on the officials parts? Rules are the player has to have left the field? Unless thats since changed like the Penalty Try rule (which is now apparently interpretation rather than guaranteed score. I personally dont think FC should be punished in any way. Lineham was clearly trying to leave the field the correct way, was told by whomever to leave via the east stand touchline, should never have been allowed on, thats the 4th officials fault in my book.

Lineham was not interferring with the game and playing no active part in it. The lad was struggling to limp off the field and the physio gave a signal back to the dugout that he wad about to step off the pitch. If the sub came on a couple of seconds before this I have no issue and banging on about it looks silly.
The inability to judge forward passes (a basic rule for our game) by the officials is getting beyond a joke. Wigan last week, the Huddersfield game vs Wigan on Friday and our own derby yesterday are just small examples. We scream about ours because we watch our team closely but this base rules of our game is misjudged all the time in every game. Why not either get rid, ban flat passes abd momentum rules or get better officials?

I suppose you could say that this is the only aspect of the game that is currently moving forward

IIRC (and I very possibly don't) the 4th official allowing the player on was part of Salford's defence and it availed them little.
Of course that was them defending a narrow lead late in a game - but that raises the question as whether it is the breach of the rules or the wider context and outcome that is punished. If Cas had scored and won against 14, would Salford still have been punished to the same degree for the same offence.
I've not and I won't be watching it back - if they're both on the field together for more than a few seconds, say 2 ptb, with the player coming on in the line, then I'd expect (or rather deem appropriate) a [ismall[/i fine (or a bit larger and suspended) and a warning. Just to discourage it being done tactically.
O/T I don't really get twitter. Apart from weird horse it seems complete cackamala to me. But I thought the hashtag thing was to click on for similarly themed cackamala? Is it also used as an equivalent of 'FACT'?'"
twitters for twits and tw@s ................ cackamala is a class word

There is no 'momentum rule'. Stevo made it up.
Flat passes are perfectly legal and how would you ban them anyway? If officials can't spot forward passes they aren't going to be any better at spotting flat passes.
The only way to remove momentum from consideration is to either change the laws of physics or make the players slow down to a walk when passing the ball. Neither works.

| Or we could just say like we did before SL. If it looks forward/flat, its forward.

One that doesnt seem to go away. We have re-signed Carlile, Withers will be going so we'd need a replacement. Cant blame Josh if he does to be fair. Would become and England International imho if he did. Currently playing second row whilst we have a number out. Nothing confirmed for staying or going, is under contract mind so would require a fee.

| You'd think it'd take a big fee for J.Hodgson, given his value to us and that he'd be hard to replace.
When Carlile re-signed he talked about sharing hooking duties with JH, so either he and the media team didn't know about it or it isn't or wasn't in the pipeline.
Sean Gleeson talked about looking forward to playing with Blake Green last year, when his signing was announced, so things can change. I certainly hope not in this instance!

| Josh signed an extension in the last few months so I would have thought its highly unlikely.
